You know, I’ve walked past Matoula Beach countless times on Poseidonos street, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets it right. The location is actually perfect if you want to be in Ialyssos but not feel like you’re stuck in some tourist bubble – you’re literally steps from the beach (I mean, the name says it all), but you can also walk to those little tavernas that the locals actually eat at.

The hotel itself has this relaxed, lived-in feel that I really appreciate. It’s got that 4-star comfort level without being stuffy about it, and the 8.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, though I’d say the real draw is how close you are to everything that matters. The beach right there isn’t the most famous on the island, but that’s actually why I like it – you’ll find Greek families there on weekends, and the water’s just as clear as anywhere else. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be at some of the bigger resort areas (trust me on this one).

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s approach – they’re helpful without hovering, and they seem to genuinely know the area. When I asked about getting to Rhodes Old Town, they didn’t just say “take the bus” but actually explained which stops to use and mentioned that the evening buses get crowded with people heading out for dinner. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold. The breakfast is solid too, though nothing revolutionary – just good Greek yogurt, local honey, and fresh bread that doesn’t taste like it came from a factory. I mean, you’re not going to Rhodes to eat hotel breakfast anyway, right? But it’s nice when it doesn’t disappoint. The whole vibe here is sort of understated – you won’t find Instagram-worthy infinity pools or over-the-top amenities, but you will find a comfortable base for exploring the island that doesn’t break the bank or overwhelm you with unnecessary extras.

  What could be improved: Ants, the shower cabin leaking water and room doors letting the noise from the corridor in. Also an early and loud grass trimming.

  Exceptionally welcoming and pleasant staff and management! Felt very warm and welcome. Went the extra step to make each and every guest welcome despite this being a very busy time with full capacity.
  
  What could be improved: This is just to do with the policy rather than the staff or welcome- the policy is that the guest bring their own tea/coffee/shampoo/conditioner etc. One has to be prepared for this as 4 star hotels all over the world make this provision. There was no slipper/bathrobe as advertised on website.

  The hotel is located within a 5 min drive of the airport and is in a nice secluded area. It is next to the beach and a waterpark is opposite with shopping facilities. The rooms were a great size and were cleaned well.

  What could be improved: Shower rail needed attention. Cooked breakfast items were not kept hot and drinks machines were very poor …both hot drinks and juice.

  Location was great, handy to the airport which is what we needed for an early flight.
  The lady at the desk with the red hair was so welcoming and friendly.
  Complimentary Brekky was a welcome bonus.
