You know what struck me first about Matina’s place? It’s not just the name – it really does feel like you’re staying in someone’s actual home, not some cookie-cutter accommodation. The house sits right on Επαρχιακή Οδός Μασάρων in Haraki, and honestly, I think most people drive past this little stretch without realizing what a gem it is. Haraki itself is one of those villages that hasn’t been completely overrun yet – you’ve got the proper Rhodes tourist madness about 20 minutes away, but here you can actually hear the cicadas in the evening.

The traditional architecture is the real deal, not some modern build trying to look old. I mean, you can tell from the thick stone walls and the way the rooms stay cool even when it’s blazing outside. Matina (and yes, there’s actually a Matina – she’ll probably greet you personally when you arrive) has done something really smart with the renovations. She’s kept all the character – the original tile work, the wooden shutters that actually function, the little courtyard where you’ll end up having your morning coffee – but everything works properly. The shower has decent pressure, the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and there’s proper air conditioning for those July afternoons when even the locals are hiding indoors.

What I love about staying here is how it puts you right in the rhythm of village life. The local taverna is literally a two-minute walk – and I’m talking about the kind of place where they don’t even have printed menus because everyone knows what’s good that day. You’ll wake up to the sound of the local fishermen heading out (early, around 6 AM, but it’s not unpleasant), and evenings there’s usually some gentle conversation drifting from the neighboring houses. It’s not party-central, which some people might find too quiet, but if you want to decompress from real life, this is perfect. The beach at Haraki is small but never crowded – maybe a 15-minute walk down the hill – and the water stays shallow for quite a way out, so it’s great if you’re traveling with kids or just want to float around with a book.

The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re the type who needs everything within walking distance, you might feel a bit isolated. You’ll want a car to explore properly, though honestly, that’s true for most of Rhodes outside the main town. But that 9.6 rating? Yeah, I get it. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out, and Matina remembers you when you come back next year.

  The vibe and everything was really nice the owners of the house where really sweet. Wil recommend to stay there ! It wil be better if you have a car en wil see everything around. :).

  Abbiamo trascorso 10 giorni bellissimi a Rodi e in questa casa molto tipica. Siamo Stati accolti dalla mamma di Matina, una signora veramente molto carina e gentile. Ci ha fatto trovare una piccola spesa, per iniziare la vacanza. Molto apprezzato anche il dono di prodotti tipici al check out. Nella casa c'e una lavatrice, che ci è stata molto utile. 
  
  La posizione è abbastanza strategica. 
  
  Unica cosa che trovavo un pò inquietante, erano le foto degli "antenati" appese, ma non ci hanno dato nessun fastidio.. 🙂 
  
  Inoltre Matina ci ha consigliato moltissimi ristoranti tipici, in cui abbiamo mangiato davvero molto bene. Consiglio tra questi assolutamente "Taverna Petronas" E "Perigiali" a Stegna, e "Costas e Elena" a Haraki… 
  
  Abbiamo lasciato una palla e un ciambellone gonfiabile per chi verrà dopo di noi.

  Prekrasno ohranjena stara vaška hiša. Odlična, mirna lokacija. Ponoči popolna tišina. Prijazni in mirni sosedje-domačini. V bližini trgovine, lekarna, taverne in gostilne. Oprema apartmaja je izbrana in prekrasno restavrirana. Kuhinja je dobro opremljena, kopalnica prostorna. Spalnici lepi. Ležišči udobni. Kotiček za sprostitev v dnevnem prostoru je prekrasen. Priporočam, da si skuhate v đezvi grško kavo in ob halvi uživate v branju, klepetu.
  Veranda pred teraso je prostorna. Apartma nudi odlično izhodišče za ogled otoka. Toplo priporočava!

  Casa arată mai bine în realitate decât în poze. Matina și mama ei sunt persoane deosebite. Am fost plăcut surprinși de ospitalitatea cu care am fost primiți. La final am primit un frumos suvenir :). Experiența de a sta într-o casă construită în 1870, renovată în stil tradițional și cu condiții de 5 stele a fost fantastică. Zona este foarte liniștită, există supermarket-uri și 1-2 restaurante. Noaptea este liniște și pace :). Este nevoie de mașină închiriată pentru a ajunge pe plaje. Am fost 2 adulți și un copil și ne-am simțit extraordinar de bine. Mulțumim mult Matina!

  Sahibi Matina hanım çok iyi bir insan.güleryüzlü, samimi, yardımsever, insancıl.evi çok güzel dekore etmiş, içine tüm yiyeceklerden bol bol koymuş tüm temizlik malzemelerinden (kulak temizleme çöpü dahil) koymuş.biz çok memnun kaldık herkese tavsiye ederiz..

  Sono stata a Rodi con la mia famiglia a luglio, abbiamo trascorso una bellissima vacanza anche grazie soggiorno presso Matina' s traditional house. L'aspetto tradizionale e la cura dei dettagli rendono l'alloggio molto accogliente. Siamo stati bene e Matina è un ospite molto disponibile. L'alloggio è molto pulito e dotato di tutti i comfort.
