You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first climbed up to the first floor of this narrow building on Χειμάρρας Street – honestly, the entrance is pretty understated and you might walk right past it. But Mary’s House turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t ruined yet.

The location is actually brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re right in the heart of Rhodes Town, just a few minutes’ walk from the medieval walls, but tucked away enough that you don’t get the constant stream of cruise ship crowds marching past your window. I mean, you can still hear the buzz of the main tourist strips, but it’s more like a gentle hum than chaos. The street itself has this lived-in feel – there’s a little bakery around the corner where locals actually grab their morning coffee (not just tourists), and you’ll see old Greek men playing backgammon on the sidewalk in the evenings. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to slip into the Old Town’s labyrinth of cobblestone streets, or head down to Mandraki Harbor when you want to watch the boats come in.

The rooms themselves have this comfortable, homey vibe that fits the name perfectly – it genuinely feels like staying at someone’s well-appointed house rather than a sterile hotel. The floors are cool tile (which you’ll appreciate in summer, trust me), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with your belongings. The air conditioning works properly – and I say this as someone who’s suffered through too many Greek summers with inadequate cooling. One thing that surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re in the middle of town. Maybe it’s the way the building is positioned, or just the fact that this particular street doesn’t turn into a party zone after midnight like some areas do. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to upload those sunset photos from the Palace of the Grand Master or need to check ferry schedules to the other islands.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail – you can tell someone actually cares about the guest experience rather than just going through the motions. The check-in was smooth (no standing around for twenty minutes while they figure out their system), and there were those little touches that show thought: good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets where you actually need them, decent water pressure in the shower. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Rhodes trip before you’ve even checked out, honestly. The 9.7 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, it’s just really, really good at being exactly what you need when you’re exploring this incredible island.

  Location is excellent to be honest, near to the center of Rhodes, everything in 10-15 mins walks, also good balcony and comfortable accommodation 10/10.

  The apartment is spacious, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay! I is in a great location, in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, yet 10 minutes walk from the old town, the main bus stop, the center and 20 minutes from the port. Our communication with the owner was all the time very good. Highly recommend!

  John, the owner, was very kind, he welcome us very lovely, he left us food and wine. He helped us with everything, gave us recommendations and instructions about the city. The apartment was very spacious, clean and our staying was very pleasant. We can say all the best for the owner and the apartment 😊😊😊

  民宿位置適中、空間寬敞整潔、設備齊全、房東給予即時實用的幫助。
  
  民宿位於安靜的住宅區，散步10分鐘就可以到主要景點。樓下就有超級市場，蔬菜、水果、麵包、零食、飲料、伴手禮都齊全，採買非常方便。Mary甚至幫我們預先準備了吐司、起司、火腿、水果和紅酒，更有咖啡機和鬆餅機可以使用，廚房設備也非常齊全！我們還有一天早上，在舒服的陽台座位區，品嘗了我們自製的美味早午餐。住宿空間寬敞、一大床、二張單人床，還有客廳的超舒服沙發，客廳還有很多人文書籍和質感裝飾，光是沖杯咖啡、靜靜坐在客廳沙發，都覺得非常舒適放鬆，好多時刻，我們都想賴在家裡不出門了！

  Τέλειο σπίτι. Πεντακάθαρο και με πολλές ανέσεις-παροχές. Αρκετά μεγάλο, κοιμίζει άνετα έξι άτομα. Σε καλή και ήσυχη τοποθεσία και κοντά στην παλιά πόλη.
