You know what struck me first about Maroula Studios? It’s tucked away on Panaetiou Street in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t quite caught onto yet. I mean, you’re still in Faliraki – so it’s not exactly a hidden gem – but there’s this residential feel to the street that I honestly wasn’t expecting from a resort town that can get pretty rowdy during peak season.

The studios themselves are surprisingly well thought out, and I say surprising because, well, let’s be honest – a lot of places in Faliraki prioritize location over comfort. But whoever designed these spaces actually gets how people want to live when they’re away from home. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show (I actually cooked breakfast most mornings), and there’s enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The balconies face different directions depending on which room you get, but even the ones without sea views catch these amazing breezes in the evening – something about how the building sits relative to the hills behind town. The air conditioning works properly too, which might sound basic but trust me, after a day at Anthony Quinn Bay or walking around Rhodes Town, you’ll appreciate coming back to a room that’s actually cool.

What really sold me on the place was how the staff handled the small stuff. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no pressure to book excursions, just genuine recommendations when I asked about beaches that aren’t completely packed with sun loungers. They pointed me toward Ladiko Beach, which honestly became my go-to spot, and it’s only about a fifteen-minute walk through some pretty neighborhoods. The location works because you can walk to the main Faliraki strip when you want that energy (the nightlife scene, beach bars, all that), but you can also head the other direction toward quieter stretches of coast. Parking’s available if you rent a car, though I’d recommend it – having wheels opens up so much more of the island, and the mountain villages inland are absolutely worth the drive. The whole setup just feels more authentic than some of the massive resort complexes closer to the beach. It’s the kind of place where you might end up chatting with the couple from the room next door, or where the cleaning staff remembers how you like your towels folded. Small touches, but they add up to something that feels more like staying somewhere rather than just passing through.

  We found Maroula excellent. While a little out of town, the bus service was great so that was no issue. The breakfasts were brilliant, dinners really good, and the prices for both way better than outside. Really good spot to wind down.

  It's a lovely place, fairly close to beaches and restaurants,

  First studio wasn't satisfying, but after request to staff manager our studio was swap for better standard at same price. Localisation was great, close to local beach and bus stop. Cleaning lady did her job well. Nice pool. Staff let us leave our luggage for couple of hours to enjoy the sea for the last time, witch was nice of them.
  
  What could be improved: Bathroom shower head was leaking, shower drain wasn't great. Kitchen could be equipt a little better.

  -Very nice big room, with all you need it

  -Maximum 10 minutes to the beach
  -The city center was also close (1.2 km), but far enough for quiet sleep.
  
  What could be improved: The rooms are not soundproof, but we were lucky to have quiet neighbours.
  The spring matress was not the best.
