You know what hit me first when I found Maison Roxanne? The address itself – Triptolemou Street – which honestly I had to ask three locals to pronounce correctly, but it’s right in the thick of Rhodes’ old town where you actually want to be. I mean, we’re talking about sleeping inside medieval walls that have been standing since the Knights of Rhodes were running around in armor. The building itself has this gorgeous stone facade that just blends seamlessly with everything around it, and when you’re walking back after dinner, you’ll pass maybe two other tourists on the entire street because it’s tucked away from the main tourist drags.

The maisonette setup is pretty brilliant actually – it’s like having your own little house rather than just another hotel room. The stone walls are thick enough that you barely hear the occasional moped puttering by (and trust me, in other parts of Rhodes town, those things sound like angry wasps at 2 AM). What really gets me is how they’ve managed to keep all the medieval character – exposed beams, stone archways, the works – while making everything feel genuinely comfortable. The beds are actually good, which you can’t always count on in these historic places, and there’s proper air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. I spent a good chunk of one afternoon just sitting by the window watching locals walk by with their morning coffee, and you get this sense that you’re seeing the real rhythm of the place, not the tourist version.

Here’s the thing about staying in the old town – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Palace of the Grand Masters, but more importantly, you’re stumbling distance from some seriously good tavernas that the day-trippers never find. The little grocery store on the corner stays open late (the owner, Yannis, will probably try to sell you his homemade olive oil), and there’s this bakery about fifty meters down that opens at 6 AM with the best tyropita I had on the entire island. Parking is… well, it’s medieval streets, so you’ll leave your car outside the walls, but honestly that’s true anywhere decent in the old town. The 9.8 rating makes sense when you experience how thoughtfully everything’s been put together – from the way they’ve restored the stonework to small touches like actually decent WiFi and proper shower pressure. It feels like staying in someone’s carefully renovated family home rather than a hotel, if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a thing for medieval architecture.

  Great apartment in old town. Well equipped with everything we needed and more. Easy transfers from the airport which made getting to the apartment easy after a long flight. Very comfortable king size bed. Loved it.

  Everything. The location was excellen. Just a short 5 minute walk from the centre of the Old Town with its myriad of cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops. The Host, Claudia, was so welcoming and helpful. It exceeded our expectations. Sad to leave.

  I can not say enough about staying at Claudia's place in the heart of Old Town. Claudia communicated with me before my arrival to ensure I go there safely, and did everything she could to make sure I enjoyed my stay in Rhodes. The apartment also abuts the Old Wall, so transport to the airport (which she set up) was a breeze. Can not wait to Rhodes and to stay with Claudia again.

  Lovely holiday apartment in an old house. Perfect size for two people, maybe a bit small for four adults. We stayed in the Maison Roxanne and there is a lovely courtyard area to sit, sunny and private. The kitchen is fully equipped, has a washing machine, microwave, full oven, kettle and coffee machine, full size fridge/freezer. There is an iron and ironing board. Nice big bathroom with plenty of towels and toilet roll provided. Bedroom is nice and cool with the aircon and has good storage, very comfortable bed.
  There is a big supermarket about 10 mins away in the new town and a mini-market just up the road.
  You are in the Old Town and all the sights, bars and restaurants are a short walk away.
  Claudia the owner was very friendly and helpful, she lives next door and is available if messaged.
  We really enjoyed our two week stay here and would highly recommend it.
  
  What could be improved: The stairs to the bedroom and bathroom are a little tight, which might be awkward for someone wtith mobility problems, but were fine for us.
  There was some building work going on next door, which Claudia was very aplogetic about (even though it wasn't her fault!), but we were only disturbed one morning in 2 weeks.

  A lovely apartment with a great host perfect if you're looking to self cater very well equipped. Comfy bed, spacious room, great balcony and terrace. A short walk from all the goings on in Rhodes old town but in a peaceful location. We would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family.
