You know what struck me first about Maison Masse? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Amarantou, and honestly, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is sort of understated – which I actually loved because it means you’re not dealing with tourist crowds constantly streaming by. Once you step inside though, that private courtyard hits you immediately. I mean, Rhodes Town can get pretty intense with all the medieval stone and narrow alleys, so having this peaceful little oasis where you can actually breathe? Game changer.

The thing about staying in the old town is that most places feel like you’re sleeping in a museum – beautiful, sure, but not exactly homey. Maison Masse gets the balance right. It’s got that traditional Greek charm (the courtyard has these gorgeous old stones and climbing vines), but someone clearly thought about what modern travelers actually need. The Wi-Fi works everywhere, which is honestly rare in these thick-walled buildings, and there’s proper air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. I stayed there in July – peak insanity season – and while the main tourist drags were absolutely packed, Amarantou street stays surprisingly calm. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Palace of the Grand Masters, but you can’t hear the tour groups from your room.

What really impressed me was how the owners clearly know their stuff about Rhodes. They left these handwritten notes about where to grab coffee before the crowds hit (there’s this tiny place on Ippoton Street that opens at 6 AM), and which tavernas actually serve locals instead of just tourists. The courtyard becomes this perfect spot for evening wine – we’d grab a bottle from the little shop on Sokratous Street and just decompress after walking around all day. And honestly, with a 9.7 rating, I was expecting maybe some small disappointments, but even the check-in was smooth. The key pickup was easy, parking info was clear (you’ll want to use the Mandraki Harbor lot, by the way), and they actually answered their WhatsApp messages quickly when I had questions. It’s one of those places where you can tell someone actually cares about the experience rather than just collecting booking fees.

  It was completely private and had all the facilities we needed. It was also in an excellent location, within walking distance to all the restaurants and stores.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that was missing was a comfortable chair for lounging in.

  I can’t describe my feelings and thoughts about this lovely place just I can say If you really search a perfect house this is true address. Owner were so friendly, welcoming and cheerful.   Absolutely perfect location! The garden gate opens to a walking path adorned wit flowers. Very nice ,very high quality towel and bed linen, süper well decorated and well equipped for cooking and with amenities. A couple of minutes away from many tavernas and the beach. The owner Yvonne was amazing, the booklet that she prepared was guest is so detailed and helpful. We also could take beach towels from the hotel next door. There were mosquito repellent, air-condition, tv, the most beautiful garden to have a breakfast. Highly recommend and would definitely come back! Thank you so much for such a lovely stay , it definitely made our holidays better!!!We loved it:)

  Location was amazing! Tucked away in a pedestrian zone, in a street full of flowers. A couple of minutes away from many tavernas and the beach.
  Yvonne was amazing, the booklet that she prepared was guest is so detailed and helpful. For breakfast, she added some extra figs from her garden.
  
  We also could take beach towels from the hotel next door. There were mosquito repellent, air-condition, tv, the most beautiful garden to have a breakfast and it was even possible to dry the laundry.
  
  What could be improved: The only remark is to the sliding toilet door that were sometimes difficult to pull

  We must have been very lucky so that we booked Yvonne’s apartment.
  
  The apartment itself already deserves 10 points, very clean and cosy, with a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful chilling courtyard. It has a great location, with good restaurants/old town/beach within walking distance, and is in an elegant and peaceful small street, so you sleep very well at night.
  
  What makes it even better was the host Yvonne, who is an angel and could make it to 20 points (if I would have this option). You feel her kind and warm heart the moment you meet her. She was so considerate and taking care of every detail to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Yvonne prepared a booklet which includes a lot of good tips you need to spend a holiday in Rhodes. If you have any questions, you can always find her at the reception. She took such a good care of us, e.g the breakfast was brought to us so we could enjoy it in the courtyard; the room was tidied up everyday; the clothes we dried outside already magically went into the room without being rain showered when we were not around, etc. She always got these things done “invisibly” even before we started to think or ask. She also offers free beach towels, sunscreens and some books, so you can fully enjoy the beach.
  
  We had an amazingly good time and already started to miss it before we left. Will definitely come back again 🙂

  La localisation est parfaite pour visiter Rhodes et la vieille ville. Yvonne a été très agréable et à pris le temps de nous conseiller les sites à visiter, restaurants, boutiques etc..
  Le logement est parfaitement équipé, nous n’avons manqué de rien pendant notre séjour. Et en plus de cela, un plateau de bienvenue nous attendait à notre arrivée. Rien à dire, c’était parfait !
