You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rhodes over the years, and Maio Seaview & Sunset Stay caught me completely off guard – in the best possible way. When I first pulled up to Megalou Alexandrou 19 (locals just call it the main strip through Kremasti), I honestly wasn’t expecting much. The building looks nice enough from the street, but it’s what happens when you actually get inside and see the view that makes you go “oh, okay, I get it now.”

The thing about Kremasti is that most people just rush through it on their way to the airport or downtown Rhodes, but they’re missing out. This little stretch of coast has some of the most spectacular sunsets on the island – I mean, the kind where you actually stop scrolling through your phone and just watch. From Maio’s terrace, you’re looking straight west over the water, and during sunset hours it’s honestly magical. The owner (super friendly guy, by the way) told me they specifically designed the common areas to take advantage of this view, and it shows. There’s this perfect spot where you can grab a coffee in the morning and watch fishing boats head out, then come back in the evening with a drink and watch the sky turn every shade of orange you can imagine.

What really impressed me though – and this might sound weird – was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to hear the waves, but far enough from the main Kremasti action that you’re not dealing with scooters buzzing around at 2 AM. The rooms are actually soundproofed pretty well too, which I only realized when I noticed I couldn’t hear my neighbor’s TV. Small detail, but when you’re trying to sleep off a day of beach hopping, it matters. The whole place has this relaxed, almost residential feel that’s hard to find in tourist areas. Parking was never an issue either – there’s space right out front, which anyone who’s driven around Greek islands in summer will appreciate.

I should mention the location is actually perfect if you want to explore but don’t want to be stuck in the middle of Rhodes Town chaos. You’re maybe ten minutes from the airport (super convenient for those early flights), fifteen minutes from the medieval city if you want to do the touristy stuff, but you’re also right in this authentic Greek neighborhood where people are just living their lives. There’s a little taverna two blocks down that serves the best souvlaki I had on the island – the kind of place where they remember your order after two visits.

Honestly, the whole experience felt more like staying at a really well-run guesthouse than a typical hotel. Everything works (reliable WiFi, good water pressure, AC that actually cools the room), the beds are comfortable, and there’s just this sense that someone actually cares about the details. At a perfect 10 rating, I was initially skeptical, but after three nights there? Yeah, I’d absolutely go back. It’s one of those places that gets Rhodes right – beautiful, comfortable, but still connected to what makes this island special.
