Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Rhodes, and the Maia Luxury Pool Villa actually surprised me – in the best way possible. It’s tucked along that stretch of Ethniki Odos between Rhodes town and Lindos, right in Afantou, which honestly most people just drive through without stopping. But that’s kind of the point here. You’re away from the madness of Faliraki (thank god) but still close enough to everything that matters.

The villa itself feels more like staying at a friend’s ridiculously nice house than a typical hotel. I mean, you’ve got your own private pool – and I’m talking about a proper pool, not some tiny plunge thing – surrounded by these gorgeous stone terraces that catch the morning sun perfectly. The whole place has this understated elegance going on, you know? White-washed walls, natural materials, but with all the modern touches you actually want, like proper air conditioning and a kitchen that works. The view stretches out toward the Aegean, and on clear days you can make out the Turkish coastline, which never gets old. What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main tourist strips that you actually hear crickets instead of drunk Brits singing football chants until 3 AM.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore the real Rhodes. Afantou Beach is literally a five-minute walk down the hill, and it’s one of those long, pebbly stretches that locals actually use – families with kids, old-timers playing backgammon under the tamarisk trees. The village itself has a few tavernas where you can get proper Greek food (try Platanos if you go, their lamb is incredible), and there’s a decent mini-market for basics. Rhodes town is about fifteen minutes by car, Lindos maybe twenty-five, so you’re not stuck but you’re not overwhelmed either. Parking is never an issue, which – if you’ve been to Santorini or Mykonos – you’ll appreciate. The staff runs the place with this relaxed professionalism that feels very Greek; they’re helpful without hovering, and they actually know the area well enough to give you directions to that hidden cove or family-run winery you’d never find otherwise. My only minor gripe? The WiFi can be spotty by the pool area, but honestly, that might be a feature, not a bug. This is the kind of place where you come to properly disconnect, swim laps in your private pool at sunset, and remember why you loved Greece in the first place.

  Lovely hosts. Spacious villa. Great pool (but cold at this time of year!) Wonderful island to visit.

  Everything, from the communication, through to the Villa itself. It is as advertised. Lovely swimming pool, open plan kitchen and lounge area. Seve and Gianni are brilliant hosts. We had all the essentials, body wash, and shampoo. A nice bottle of wine, coffee, and juice were supplied for us. The exterior was excellent, sunbeds and pool towels. Great parking area for my hire car. There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by.

  Absolutely beautiful villa, we couldn't have wished for a nicer place to spend our holiday. Every item that we needed was provided, and the washing machine came in handy throughout our stay.

  Excellent Villa.Very comfortable.Home from home.Location is ideal for the beach and some restaurants and supermarkets close by.Hosts are very friendly and helpful.Pool is lovely and always kept clean.

  Sofia met us at the villa even though our flight was delayed. We were shown around the villa and she explained everything to us. There were leaflets for food deliveries and the fridge was stocked with food.
