You know what caught me off guard about Luxury Villa Ioannis? The moment you pull up to this place in Navarone Bay, you realize how perfectly tucked away it is from all the tourist chaos that usually swarms Lindos. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk down to the main village – maybe fifteen minutes if you don’t mind the hill – but you’re far enough removed that you actually get to hear the waves at night instead of bar music echoing off ancient walls.

The villa itself has this understated elegance that honestly feels more authentic than some of the flashier five-star places I’ve stayed at. The rooms have these gorgeous stone accents that feel genuinely Greek, not like someone just slapped some faux Mediterranean decor together. What really sold me was the terrace situation – and I’m talking about terraces that actually face the water, not some sad side view where you have to crane your neck to glimpse the sea. The sunset views are ridiculous, especially if you grab a spot around 7:30 when the light hits those Lindos rooftops just right. Fair warning though: the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty on the upper levels (learned that the hard way during a work call), but honestly, isn’t that kind of the point?

Here’s what locals don’t always tell you about this area – Navarone Bay stays pretty calm even when the meltemi winds pick up in July and August, which makes it perfect for those early morning swims before the day heats up. The staff actually knows the good hiking trails too, not just the obvious tourist routes. Maria at the front desk pointed me toward this incredible path that winds up behind the acropolis – you end up with these panoramic shots that make your Instagram followers properly jealous. Parking is straightforward, which might sound boring but trust me, after you’ve circled Lindos proper for twenty minutes looking for a spot that won’t cost you thirty euros, you’ll appreciate having a dedicated space. The whole check-in process was refreshingly human too – they actually asked about dietary preferences and restaurant recommendations instead of just handing over key cards and pointing toward the elevator. It’s that kind of place where a 9 rating makes complete sense, even if it’s “only” four stars on paper.

  Lovely secluded property with a superb pool. Fantastic bedrooms and the grounds are really nice too. The house is decorated to a high standard but bear in mind there are plenty of breakables if you have young kids running about. Lisa was superb, and what a welcome she gave. Loads of help and advice throughout!
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen is a little cramped, but perfectly functional and obviously not a problem if you are having dinner out. A working outdoor shower would have been good. These are all minor and you’d really struggle to find any negatives.
