Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Los Olivos V.I.P Poolvilla in Kritinia, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The address had me driving through some pretty remote parts of Rhodes’ west coast, past olive groves and those typical Greek stone walls that seem to go on forever. But honestly? That isolation turned out to be the whole point.

This place sits in what I’d call the “real” Rhodes – you know, the part where you’re more likely to hear roosters than tour buses. Kritinia itself is this tiny village that most people only know because of the medieval castle ruins up the hill, but the villa takes advantage of being tucked away from all that. The pool area is where you’ll spend most of your time, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s not huge, but it’s perfectly sized for the property, with this view that stretches out toward the Aegean that honestly made me put my book down more than once. The water was warm enough even in late September – apparently they keep it heated, which nobody mentioned when I booked but was a pleasant surprise.

What really got me was how quiet it gets here, especially in the evenings. You’re far enough from the main Kamiros-Kritinia road that you don’t get any traffic noise, just cicadas and the occasional distant boat engine. The villa itself feels more like staying at someone’s well-appointed summer house than a typical hotel – there’s this lived-in quality that I actually preferred to the sterile perfection you get at the big resort chains. The kitchen was fully stocked (I mean actually stocked, not just a mini-fridge and coffee maker), which came in handy since the nearest proper taverna is back in Kamiros, about a fifteen-minute drive. Though honestly, that drive along the coast road is pretty spectacular, especially around sunset. You’ll want to stock up on groceries in Rhodes Town before you head out here – there’s a small shop in Kritinia village, but it’s hit or miss whether it’s open, and the selection is pretty basic. Parking was never an issue, obviously, since you’re basically in the middle of nowhere, but the roads getting here are narrow and winding, so if you’re not comfortable with that kind of driving, maybe reconsider. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – no lobby crowd, no waiting around, just keys and a quick walkthrough of how everything works. I’d definitely come back, probably in late spring next time when the wildflowers are blooming and it’s warm enough to really make use of that pool area from morning till night.

  Beautiful villa with lovely pool. The house has a lot of beautiful details, luxurious bedrooms and very well equipped kicthen. It looks like from a magazine. Ana, the owner was very helpful and nice. The accomodation was worth every euro. You can have a very nice silent holiday far from anyone. From the villa you could go down to the sea, nice snorkling places.
