Honestly, when I first pulled up to Lindos Royal Resort on Vlycha beach, I wasn’t sure what to expect – you know how those 5-star ratings can sometimes be a bit generous in Greece. But this place actually delivers on most of its promises, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The location is what really sells it for me. Vlycha beach isn’t one of those overcrowded tourist strips where you’re fighting for towel space – it’s got this quieter, more local feel while still being just a short drive from Lindos village proper. You can walk to the beach in maybe two minutes from the resort, and the sand there is this gorgeous mix of golden and white that photographs way better than those generic Mediterranean postcards. The water’s crystal clear too, though I’ll warn you it can get a bit choppy in the afternoons when the wind picks up. What I loved is that you’re close enough to pop into Lindos for dinner (the drive up that winding road to the acropolis area is beautiful at sunset), but far enough away that you don’t deal with the cruise ship crowds that basically take over the main village during peak season.

The resort itself feels genuinely upscale without being stuffy about it. Check-in was smooth – they actually had cold towels and local sweets waiting, which sounds small but hits different when you’ve been traveling all day. The rooms are spacious with these massive terraces that overlook either the sea or the gardens, and honestly, even the garden view rooms are lovely because they’ve got olive and citrus trees everywhere. I stayed in a sea view suite and could hear the waves at night, which was perfect for sleeping. The pool area never felt crowded, even in July, and there’s this infinity edge that makes for great photos if you’re into that. Food-wise, the breakfast spread is extensive – proper Greek yogurt with local honey, fresh pastries, and they make eggs to order. Dinner at their main restaurant was solid Mediterranean fare, though I’d recommend venturing out to some of the family tavernas in the area for a more authentic experience.

What really impressed me was the staff – they genuinely seemed to know the area well and gave great recommendations for hiking trails and hidden beaches that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots. The spa is worth mentioning too, especially if you book treatments in the late afternoon when it’s quieter. My only real complaint is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, and parking fills up pretty quickly during peak times, so arrive early if you’re renting a car. But honestly, for an 8.2 rating, this place earns it. It’s one of those resorts where you can actually relax without feeling like you’re missing out on the real Greece – because you’re experiencing a pretty authentic slice of it right there on Vlycha beach.

  The sea is beautiful, Greek!!! and Italian!!! cuisine were excellent, local wine and beer not bad, music by the pool, evening entertainments, 90% people- Italian. The hotel = only 4****.
  
  What could be improved: It's not 5* hotel. The furniture is very old. Construction works – is everywhere. Bad smell in the main bar. Cocktails – It's like soft drinks. Lobby bar – everything is only for money all the time (always empty). No silence isolation. Doors are broken. Mattresses are not comfortable and dirty (it's awful). The main restaurant looks like a factory canteen. We saw a huge cockroach there.

  Good facilities, friendly helpful staff, good food and close to beach. The air conditioning worked well and was quiet. The room was generally good and clean. The shower was really great. Powerful and spacious, and most of the time, the water was hot. The pillow choice was much appreciated. It was better than most hotels we have stayed in. The entertainment was first class and great fun, especially the South African bands.
  Of all the hotel staff we have ever met, no one has been as helpful, happy, and smiling all the time as George in the bar in the buffet. It was a pleasure to meet him!
  
  What could be improved: The twin beds were comfortable but kept moving apart, and it would have been good to have separate blankets for each bed. The wine available on the all-inclusive basis was generally poor, which was a shame as the food quality was good, both in the buffet and in the themed restaurants.

  The location to the beach and short taxi ride to Lindos was particularly useful.
  The various pools offered good alternatives and the location of the hotel generally offered great views. I would recommend eating in the additional restaurants at the hotel because the food and service were very good.
  
  What could be improved: The family room sofa bed wasn’t the most comfortable of beds, and four beds would have been better. Given the size of the resort and proximity to Lindos, a complimentary shuttle to Lindos would have been good rather than spending money on taxis each time.

  What could be improved: The place is well used and shows it. It needs a major face lift. In our room the door handle to the door of the balcony was about to fall off, the door to the bathroom didn't close properly and the toilet lid fell off are some examples.
  Outside the building is showing cracks and in obvious disrepair.
  
  Whilst we enjoyed our stay we wouldn't recommend this place and would probably go somewhere a little more upmarket

  The staff were lovely! Great value for money, location was beautiful. Good choice in different foods (we loved the gyros!) really can’t complain would recommend. We stayed in the sea view room for a little bit more money and 100% worth it, huge balcony and amazing views.
  
  What could be improved: The entertainment was great but felt like it could’ve gone on a little later – everyone wanted it to!

  The pools were great.
  The beach was really nice, wifi is really good, even working in the beach.
  Food was really good, you have a lot to choose from.
  10 minutes away from Lindos, 50 minutes away from Rhodes Town. Car is very recommended!

  What could be improved: I am recommending to stay more than 1 night, at the first day it’s hard to navigate, because the hotel is very big. But after a day, it’s fine.
  The ‘All inclusive’ concept is not 100% All inclusive, the drinks after 23:00 is not all inclusive, the drinks in The themed restaurants is not included too.
  lack of signage, it’s really hard to navigate in the first days.
  We had 2 rooms, in one of the rooms the air conditioning was ok, the second one was not good. A technician came to the room, changed the temperature to 18, and it didn’t work.
