Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places on Rhodes, but Lianas Garden House in Afantou actually surprised me – and honestly, that doesn’t happen often anymore. You know how most “garden” hotels just have a few sad plants by the pool? Well, this place lives up to its name. The moment you walk through the entrance, you’re hit with this incredible scent of jasmine and something I couldn’t quite place (maybe honeysuckle?), and there are these sprawling vines everywhere that actually look like they’ve been growing for decades, not just planted last season for the photos.

The location is pretty clever too – Afantou isn’t one of those tourist trap areas where you can’t find a decent meal under 30 euros. It’s about a 15-minute drive from Rhodes Town, which means you can easily hit the medieval city or Mandraki Harbor when you want that classic Greek island experience, but you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds stumbling past your hotel at all hours. The beach in Afantou is honestly one of my favorites on the island – it’s this long stretch where locals actually go, not just tourists, and there’s this little taverna called Kostas (I think?) where the grilled octopus is ridiculous. From the hotel, it’s maybe a 5-minute walk, though the path is a bit uneven, so pack decent sandals.

What really got me about Lianas Garden House was the attention to small stuff that actually matters. The shower pressure was fantastic – I mean, you don’t realize how much you miss it until you’re standing under some pathetic drizzle at other places. The air conditioning was quiet (crucial for light sleepers), and they had these heavy curtains that actually blocked out the morning sun if you wanted to sleep in. The staff seemed to genuinely know the area too, not just reciting rehearsed recommendations. When I asked about hiking spots, this one guy – Dimitris, maybe? – drew me an actual hand-drawn map to these ruins up in the hills that weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen. Parking was easy and free, which saved me from the nightmare of trying to find a spot in Rhodes Town every day. The whole place has this relaxed vibe where you can tell they’re not trying too hard to impress anyone – it just works. With a 9 rating, you’d expect maybe some pretentious touches or inflated prices, but it felt more like staying at a friend’s really nice family place. If you’re looking for something authentic without sacrificing comfort, and you don’t need to be right in the thick of everything, this is honestly one of the better finds I’ve had in Greece.

  Lovely and very clean. The pool was just what we needed in the heat. It was very welcome to find bottled water and a beers in the fridge!
  
  What could be improved: It would have been nice to have some written information about the area and when to find the local restaurants.
  It is a fair walk in to village especially in the heat and I therefore would recommend hiring a car.

  Our stay there exceeded all our expectations. The house is huge, very comfortable, clean, has a great pool and a vast and beautiful garden, full of all kinds of fruit trees and vines. The location is excellent, especially for exploring the northern half of Rhodes, which is where most of its attractions are. All of these would be reasons enough to choose this property, but what really stood the most was the warm hospitality of the hosts, who treated us as part of the family. Nikos, Liana's father, even stayed up until over midnight on our first day to help us receive our delayed baggage, making sure everything was fine, and he also offered fresh eggs from their hen and told us to help ourselves as much as we wanted with the crops from the garden. We had tasted some of the best grapes, plums and figs there. This certainly will be our first option on a next visit to this enchanting island with the most welcoming people.

  The house was beautifully peaceful, set in an orchard. The pool was the perfect size for a refreshing swim after relaxing in the sun. It was great to be able to pick fruit straight from the vine and collect eggs each morning.
  
  Tasos was an excellent host. His communication was fantastic. He met us when we arrived – even though it was 1:30am due to flight delays. And he had taken care of everything we had requested – bedding for the sofa and a bbq… There was even some food and drinks for our late arrival. It was such a blessing after a long journey 🙂

  This was a very pretty property in the perfect location for our holiday being about half an hour away from the airport, Rhodes and Lindos. The pool was wonderful and the surrounding garden full of fruit trees was gorgeous. Although we didn't meet our host, he kindly got in touch to ask if we needed any food for our late arrival and made sure this was ready for us which was greatly appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately, we found the pillows very uncomfortable and all eight in the property were the same type. It might help to have a variety so people to choose their preferred height and comfort.

  Fantastisch huis met mooi eigen zwembad en tuin rondom. Veel privacy. Erg compleet ingericht. Goed gelegen t.o.v. stranden en bezienswaardigheden.
  
  De eigenaar, Tasos, was erg behulpzaam voor en tijdens het verblijf en heeft veel goede tips gegeven.
  
  What could be improved: Eigenlijk niks. Als ik dan toch iets moet noemen zijn het de luidruchtige hanen in de buurt die vaak al vroeg beginnen te kraaien.

  Wir haben in Lianas Garden House einen traumhaften Urlaub verbracht. Die Gastgeber sind sehr symphtische Leute und haben uns herzlich empfangen. Das Haus ist traumhaft schön gestaltet und man fühlt sich hier sofort wohl. Die natürliche Umgebung hat uns sehr gut gefallen und wir haben unser Frühstück täglich mit frischen Früchten aus dem Garten genossen.
  Der uneinsehbare Pool war ideal für eine angenehme Abkühlung und die beiden überdachten Terrassen schützen sehr gut vor der heißen Sonne, so dass man sich auch tagsüber ideal im Freien aufhalten kann. Der sehr natürliche Strand ist in ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar und hier gibt es tolle Strandlokale mit sehr guten Fisch- und Meeresfrüchtespezialitäten und typisch griechischem Essen. Überall wurden wir sehr freundlich und zuvorkommen bedient. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

  Wszystko. Bardzo komfortowy i wygodny dom wakacyjny z rodzimym ogrodem i basenem. Pełen relaks. Fantastyczna obsługa. Właściciele Tasos oraz Liana bardzo gościnni, mili, przyjaźni oraz pomocni. Serdecznie polecam Liana Garden House.
