Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Leonardo Kolymbia Resort – you know how some of these big resorts can feel sort of cookie-cutter – but this place actually surprised me. It sits right in Kolymbia, which is this perfect sweet spot on Rhodes where you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in the chaos of Rhodes Town. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that they’ve put real thought into the details. The marble floors aren’t just polished to death like some places; they’ve got this warm, lived-in feeling that makes you want to kick off your sandals and stay awhile.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to feel both upscale and genuinely Greek at the same time. I mean, you’ll find plenty of five-star places that could be anywhere in the Mediterranean, but the Leonardo actually embraces where it is. The staff – and I’m talking about everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping team – seem to genuinely care about making sure you understand what makes this part of Rhodes special. They’ll tell you about the little taverna down the road that locals actually go to (not just the tourist traps), or mention that Thursday mornings are when the fish market in nearby Archangelos is at its best. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your time, and it’s designed so you’re not staring at your neighbor’s breakfast while you’re trying to read. There are these tucked-away corners where you can actually have a conversation without shouting over someone’s playlist. The beach access is solid too – it’s not one of those rocky nightmare situations where you need special shoes just to get your feet wet.

I’ll be straight with you though, this isn’t a party resort. If you’re looking for foam parties and DJ sets until 3 AM, you’re in the wrong place. But if you want somewhere you can actually relax, where the Wi-Fi works consistently (crucial for those of us who can’t completely disconnect), and where the evening entertainment feels more like genuine Greek hospitality than a cruise ship show, then yeah, this is your spot. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not tripping over your suitcase every time you need to use the bathroom, and the balconies – well, most of them anyway – give you either mountain views that are pretty spectacular at sunset or sea views that remind you why people have been coming to Greek islands for centuries. The food situation is better than I expected too; breakfast has actual variety beyond the usual continental spread, and their taverna-style dinners feel authentic without being too precious about it. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself extending your stay if you can swing it.

  All staff from reception, bar, restaurant and cleaning team all so friendly and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend. Food choice on restaurant was very good.

  Inviting lobby/lounge bar and restaurant
  We were upgraded to newly refurbished interconnecting deluxe rooms, which were lovely.

  Gorgeous cliff walk nearby
  Good location for day trips to Rhodes Old Town and Lindos – both about 30 mins away. €45 in taxi.

  What could be improved: Little to no soundproofing in the rooms – can hear everything in the corridors, even the birds that fly through every morning.
  
  A bit rough around the edges of the resort – the sports/games areas could do with a bit of TLC to make them look more attractive.
  
  The beach area was a right mess, possibly from the recent storms.
  
  We had bad weather during our stay and it was the first week of the low season so not a lot open in Kolymbia itself. Rhodes Old Town and Lindos were fully open though.

  Staff was super friendly and helpful, thanks to Kiki for the early check-in. Breakfast was excellent, lunch and dinner were ok. For this end of the season rate you really couldn’t ask for more. The price/quality ratio was very good compared to other hotels in the same price category.

  Quiet, relaxed. No overbearing entertainment. Gentle "jazzy" music in the background was appreciated. Friendly staff. Felt well looked after rather than just one of a thousand guests (which easily happens in other places). Location was also great.

  It was our first time with my family in Rhodes, but couldn´t choose better resort to stay in!! The area was very nice, not too big and very family friendly. Everything was perfect – very welcome, helpful and friendly staff – especially my friends at the pool bar – Sakis and Pawlos (I hope I didnt misspelled their names – if so I apologize guys.. :-)) I very much enjoyed the cocktails these guys were making. You all were just great! We had 2 rooms next to each other with nice pool view and literally at the doorstep to the pool area. Also – the food was absolutely fantastic – lot of choices and great desserts!! I would definitely recommend this lovely resort to stay in Rhodes 🙂
