You know what struck me first about Laylande House? It’s literally right across from this tiny chapel – Agios Ioannis – and honestly, that little detail in the address actually matters more than you’d think. I mean, Theologos isn’t exactly a sprawling metropolis, so having that sweet little church as your landmark is kind of perfect. The whole setup feels authentically Greek in a way that bigger hotels just… don’t.

The thing about this place is it gets the balance right between being polished (it’s definitely earned those 4 stars) and still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with actual character. I’ve been to plenty of places on the islands that are either trying way too hard to be boutique-y or they’re just generic box hotels, but Laylande House sits in this sweet spot where everything works without feeling fake. The rooms are genuinely comfortable – and I’m picky about beds – plus you get that morning light streaming in that makes you want to actually get up early. Which, let’s be honest, doesn’t happen often on vacation.

What really won me over though was how the staff actually knows the area. Not just the usual “oh yes, very nice beach” responses you get most places, but real recommendations. They pointed me toward this little taverna that I never would’ve found otherwise, and they were spot-on about timing – told me exactly when to head out to avoid the afternoon heat. The location itself is pretty brilliant too, because Theologos has that authentic village vibe but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. You can walk around in the evening when things cool down, maybe grab a coffee, and it feels like you’re experiencing actual Greek life rather than just tourist Greece. Sure, it’s not party-central if that’s what you’re after, but if you want to unwind and still have things to discover nearby, it’s honestly ideal. The 9 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places that just gets the fundamentals right and then adds enough special touches that you find yourself already planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.

  We loved the calm and relaxing area, our son had a very lovely time in the beautiful garden. The owners were very thoughfull; food/drinks and breakfast for the 1st arrival was already in the fridge. They also brought a typical greek meal during our stay! There is enough space in the house. The owners are used to children: small plates, plastic drinking cups, everything was there. We were staying in a hotel the first week, but staying in Laylande for the second week really felt more as a relaxing vacation! Thank you for the hospitality; we would definately recomend this stay and love to come back!

  The owners were wonderfully accommodating. We received a welcome pack & fresh produce from the gardens, eggs, peppers, Lemon. The letting agent was very helpful and lovely. The villa is very well equipped, we had everything and more than we could possibly need.
  The grounds are fabulous and well equipped for children.
  The local restaurant was great for a cheap traditional meal.
  
  What could be improved: The villa is sold as a 5 bed. However the 5th bedroom was an attic space with no a/c, no blinds and just a mattress on the floor. The 4th bedroom was a very uncomfortable sofa bed, I would recommend the owner invest in a proper bed for this room.
  The swimming pool was not a tiled swimming pool, it was a sunken big paddling pool. I feel this should have been stated.
  In late September the pool was in the shade 24/7 meaning unfortunately we were unable to use.
  Lastly, there were so many wasps & mosquitoes that we were unable to sit outside and eat. Day or night.

  Großes gepflegtes Haus auf großem und gepflegtem Grundstück. Große Dachterrasse Schöne Gartenanlage mit Pool und Grill. Steinofen. Spielhaus als Baumhaus im Barbiestyle für Mädels bis 12. 4 Schlafzimmer mit je 1 Doppelbett. (2×1,60 und 2×1,40) Zusätzliches Notbett für 2 Personen in der Treppenempore. Gute Matratzen. 3 Fernseher. 2 Bäder. Es fehlte nichts. Auch Mückengitter, sind vorhanden. Internet problemlos. Vollständige Küche. Bei Ankunft sogar mit ein paar Lebensmitteln zum Frühstück.
  
  What could be improved: Der Pool war definitiv eiskalt aufgrund der nahezu ganztägigen Verschattung. Max 18 Grad. Ist also nichts mit relaxen im Pool. Das nahegelegene Kohlekraftwerk sorgte bei Wind immer mal wieder für schlechte Luft und Aschepartikel auf dem Tisch. Die 3 Überlandstrommasten mit ihren 10 Starkstromleitungen befinden sich direkt hinterm Haus und sind sicher auch nicht jedermanns Sache. Für die Anreise ist ein SUV von Vorteil. Schilder als Wegweiser durch die Felder fehlen leider.

  Lämplig storlek för 8 vuxna och 2 mindre barn. Bra bemötande, med tips på sevärdheter och restauranger. Tillmötesgående på alla sätt. Rent och snyggt, poolen rengjordes var tredje dag. Härlig trädgård, bra plats för lekande barn
  
  What could be improved: Finns inget att anmärka på. Men ett tips är att införskaffa plastglas. Det är lätt hänt att glas går i krasch på stengolv

  Wir waren im Juli für 10 Tage im Laylande House zu viert und es hat uns wirklich sehr gut gefallen. Vom Check in bis zum Check out verlief alles zu unserer Zufriedenheit.
  Besonders begeistert waren wir vom Hausbesitzer Alex, er kam alle 2 Tage um den Pool zu reinigen und war immer daran interessiert, dass alles in Ordnung ist. Er gab uns viele Tipps für Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und die Empfehlungen waren wirklich top und sehr hilfreich. Während unserem Aufenthalt bakamen wir von ihm einen hausgemachten Kuchen, Tzaziki und Musaka. Vielen Dank nochmal, es war wirklich sehr lecker.
  Das Haus liegt ca. 15 Minuten vom Flughafen entfernt und ist auf Anhieb gar nicht so leicht zu finden, aber Dank Google Maps war das auch kein Problem:)
  Durch die abgelegene Lage ist es sehr ruhig und direkte Nachbarn gibt es nicht. Auf jeden Fall einen Mietwagen nehmen, da es doch 2 Km zum nächsten Strand bzw. Einkaufsmöglichkeit sind.
  Da die Besitzer das Haus bis letztes Jahr selbst genutzt haben, ist es wirklich schön und liebevoll eingerichtet und es ist alles vorhanden was man im Alltag und Urlaub so braucht.
  
  What could be improved: Verbesserungswürdig wäre der Pool, er erfüllt auf jeden Fall seinen Zweck und sorgt für Abkühlung, aber es ist halt nur ein Aufstellpool der im Boden versenkt wurde, aber laut Besitzer ist es geplant diesen demnächst gegen einen gemauerten Pool mit einer stärkeren Pumpe zu tauschen.
