You know what struck me first about La Vie Est Belle? The name actually fits – life really does feel beautiful when you’re sitting on their terrace watching the Aegean do its thing. This place sits right on Makaros Street in Ixia, which honestly is one of those spots that feels perfectly positioned without being too in-your-face touristy. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from that gorgeous stretch of beach where the windsurfers congregate (and trust me, watching them while you’re sipping your morning coffee is pretty spectacular), but you’re not dealing with the chaos of Rhodes Old Town crowds. The 4-star rating feels spot-on – it’s polished and comfortable without trying too hard to be fancy.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. Like, when I asked about getting to Filerimos Hill, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic map – he told me exactly which bus to catch and mentioned that Thursday mornings are quieter if I wanted better photos. The rooms have this clean, Mediterranean vibe that doesn’t scream “hotel room” – more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place. The air conditioning actually works (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in Greek hotels), and the balconies… well, most of them catch either the sunrise or that golden hour light that makes everything look Instagram-worthy. I will say the walls aren’t exactly soundproof, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs – though honestly, the gentle sound of waves kind of drowns out most of the hallway chatter anyway.

Here’s the thing that bumped this place up in my mind – it’s got that sweet spot location where you can walk to the beach, grab dinner at some excellent local tavernas (there’s this family-run place called Dionysos just down the street that does incredible moussaka), but you’re also positioned perfectly for day trips. The bus stop for getting into Rhodes town is practically outside the door, and if you’re renting a car, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be elsewhere on the island. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you add it all up – nothing’s revolutionary here, but everything just… works. The breakfast spread is solid, the pool area gets morning sun but has enough shade for afternoon lounging, and the whole vibe feels relaxed rather than rushed. I’d definitely come back, especially in shoulder season when you can snag better rates and the weather’s still perfect for exploring.

  We stayed at la vie est belle for 6 nights and had a fantastic time. Highly recommend. Very clean. We arrived late but there was a key safe which allowed us access.
  It certainly has the wow factor. Greeted by a lovely patio area with hot tub and seating. The kitchen was a large island and well equipped for cooking. Large fridge and freezer was perfect. Was really nice as there was some chilled water bottles in the fridge which were really welcomed after a long flight. Complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch! There’s a large dining table and sofa area which was nice to relax in. 2 bedrooms, shower, bathroom and washing machine. Was nice to be able to do some washing before returning home. We had a late night flight home and they allowed us to stay to 7pm which was really great.
  The location is brilliant. 5 minute walk and there are bars, shops and restaurants. We particularly liked a place called villa di mare which had a pool and €5 euro per day sun loungers. The bus stop was a 5 minute walk away, handy for Rhodes town. Highly recommend this apartment. Will return again!

  The property, was exceptional in every regard. The tranquility of the location was ideal for a relaxing stay, and the indoor design was simply amazing, with elegant decorations and a well-planned layout that made our stay delightful.
  
  What could be improved: The only minor inconvenience was the distance to the nearest market, bakeries, and general shops, which were about 5-10 minutes away by foot. However, regarding the house itself, there were absolutely no negatives, everything was well-maintained and pleasing.
