Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to La Casa Del Amor in Kalithies – I mean, the name alone had me bracing for something either incredibly cheesy or trying way too hard. But you know what? This little 4-star gem completely surprised me, and I get why it’s sitting at a 9.6 rating.

First thing you notice is how it actually feels Greek, not like those cookie-cutter resort places that could be anywhere in the Mediterranean. The building has this warm, honey-colored stone that catches the light beautifully in the late afternoon, and there’s bougainvillea spilling over the terraces that smells incredible when you’re walking up from the parking area. Speaking of parking – there’s actually decent space, which anyone who’s driven around Rhodes will tell you is not something to take for granted. The staff at check-in were genuinely friendly (not that rehearsed hotel friendly), and the woman at the front desk gave me really specific directions to this little taverna about ten minutes away that locals actually go to, not just tourists.

What really got me was the attention to detail that you don’t see coming. The rooms have these thick stone walls that keep everything blissfully cool and quiet – I mean, you forget you’re not the only person staying there. The beds are properly comfortable (firm but not rock-hard), and the bathrooms have rainfall showers with actually decent water pressure. But here’s the thing that stuck with me: every morning around 7 AM, you can hear the church bells from the village center drifting across the hills, and it’s honestly magical rather than annoying. The breakfast terrace faces east, so you’re eating fresh yogurt with local honey while watching the sun come up over the olive groves. They source a lot of their ingredients locally too – the tomatoes taste like actual tomatoes, if you know what I mean.

Kalithies itself is this perfect middle ground between authentic Greek village life and having actual amenities when you need them. You’re about fifteen minutes from Faliraki if you want the beach scene, but close enough to Rhodes Town (maybe 20 minutes) for when you want to explore the medieval city or catch a ferry to other islands. The location is sort of ideal, actually – far enough from the main tourist chaos to feel peaceful, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. I ended up extending my stay an extra two nights because leaving felt premature, and the hotel was completely accommodating about it. That 9.6 rating isn’t inflated – this place just gets the fundamentals right while adding those little touches that make you remember why you love traveling in the first place.

  The location is excellent with views of the coast in the distance and a short drive to good restaurants and beaches. Christina was always in touch and was able to provide recommendations and answer any issues that we had.

  Great communication from the host. We needed some extra things, which she provided within the next day for no extra cost. Loved the clean facilities, everything was set up perfectly. Plenty of towels, everything in great condition. We were travelling with 3 kids, big thanks for the nice surprise in the fridge after a long flight 🙂

  A perfect villa with everything you might need for your holidays in Greece!
  The host was amazing. He invited us to his family’s farm and we had an amazing tour! They were very generous, and we both ate and drank delicious Greek food and drinks.
  Would most definitely recommend this place.
  
  What could be improved: The only disadvantage was the distance to the supermarket, but if you have a car then it’s no problem.

  Mooi verblijf om het eiland Rhodos te ontdekken! Je kunt hier goed verblijven en naar verschillende steden, 10 min naar Faliraki en 25/30 min tot Rhodos stad. Het huis beschikt over een mooi woonkamer met keuken waar alles aanwezig is. De slaapkamers zijn ruim genoeg en de bedden zijn prima. Buiten kun je heerlijk zitten onder de overkapping en een duik nemen in het zwembad. Al met al hebben wij een week kunnen genieten!

  Super sauber. Gastgeber sehr zuvorkommend und nett. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Sogar der Kühlschrank wurde mit diversen Obst und Gemüse gefüllt. Herzlichen Dank für alles.

  Zwembad met jacuzzi. Buitenkeuken en airco in elke kamer. Ook de 2 frigo's kwamen goed van pas. Er zaten reeds drie zakken ijsblokjes in de vriezer !
  
  What could be improved: Er was geen vaatwasser. De bedden waren iets te hard. Te weinig messen. Het uitklapbed was weinig comfortabel.
