I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Kolymbia Village, I wasn’t expecting much from another 4-star hotel along the Rhodes coast. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It sits right on that stretch of the Ethniki Odos between Rhodes Town and Lindos, which means you’re perfectly positioned to explore both without dealing with the madness of staying in either tourist hub. The eucalyptus trees that give Kolymbia its distinctive character are everywhere around the property, and on those hot July afternoons, the shade they provide is honestly a godsend.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to know exactly what you needed before you asked. I mean, Greek hospitality is legendary, but there’s something different when a place genuinely cares rather than just going through the motions. The pool area becomes this lovely social space in the evenings – not rowdy or anything, just people sharing stories over drinks while the cicadas start their nightly concert. The rooms are comfortable (though the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental in peak summer – just give it time to kick in). I particularly loved that most rooms have these little balconies where you can actually hear the sea if you listen carefully, even though you’re not directly beachfront.

Here’s the thing about Kolymbia that a lot of people don’t realize – you’re about a 10-minute walk to one of the better beaches on this part of the island, but without the chaos of Faliraki or the crowds that descend on Lindos. The hotel runs a little shuttle to the beach, which is handy when you’re loaded down with all your beach gear. And honestly, the village itself has this authentic feel that’s getting harder to find along the Rhodes coast. There’s a small supermarket just down the road where the owner, Yannis, will chat your ear off about local history if you let him – fascinating guy. The hotel’s restaurant does solid traditional dishes (their moussaka is actually worth ordering), though I’d recommend venturing into the village for dinner at least once. You’ll find yourself coming back to Kolymbia Village because it strikes that perfect balance between comfort and authenticity – it’s polished enough that everything works properly, but unpretentious enough that you feel like you’re experiencing the real Rhodes rather than some sanitized resort version.

  The place is very nice, peaceful and friendly. Just rent a car, and you’ll be fine. Without a car it will be hard to enjoy the island.

  Having your own swimming pool and private accommodation was excellent. We had everything we needed to prepare food and was comfortable throughout the stay. There was a sweet cat that came to visit us too.

  Lovely apartment fully equipped for a family stay. The private swimming pool with a great view of the sea and the small garden gave a sense of comfort and privacy. The washing machine was a great help.
  The location between villages near the beach and close to everything. Lots of great Tavernas to choose from. Supermarket near by.

  We were only one couple so booked the smallest house. It had a lovely outside area with a very nice small pool (2 in fact). View from the place is very nice. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We used one of the restaurants nearby who delivered food and this service was excellent. Menu was given to us in reception. Not far to drive to nearby villages and beaches and restaurants.
  
  What could be improved: Asked for 2 hours early check in. It was possible but at a cost of 92 Euro. A bit much I think. So we waited until normal checkin time 3 pm.
