So I stumbled across Kite Blue Villas during my second trip to Rhodes, and honestly? I wish I’d found this place years ago. It’s tucked away in Kattavía – which, let me tell you, is about as far south as you can get on the island without swimming to Crete. Most tourists never make it down here because it’s a solid hour from Rhodes Town, but that’s exactly why you should go.

The thing about Kattavía is that it still feels like the Greece your parents might have visited in the ’80s – you know, before every corner had a souvenir shop. The villas themselves are perched on this little rise where you can actually see both the Aegean and the Med on a clear day (I mean, technically it’s all the same water, but the locals will correct you on the geography). What struck me first was how quiet it gets at night – and I’m talking proper quiet, not just “less traffic” quiet. The only sounds are these persistent cicadas and maybe a fishing boat putting out early in the morning. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that resort lobby chaos, just Yannis (the owner’s nephew, I think?) showing us around like we were staying at a friend’s place.

The villa we had was one of those whitewashed jobs that photograph beautifully but also actually function well – decent air conditioning, a kitchen that’s more than just a mini-fridge and hotplate, and a terrace where you can sit with morning coffee without feeling like you’re on display. Parking’s right there, which sounds mundane until you’ve spent twenty minutes circling narrow streets in Lindos with a rental car. What really won me over, though, was the proximity to Prasonisi Beach – it’s literally a ten-minute walk down a dusty path, and most days you’ll have stretches of sand completely to yourself. The windsurfers show up around midday (it’s apparently one of Europe’s better spots for that), but early morning and late afternoon it’s just you and some very determined seagulls.

I’ll be honest, Kattavía isn’t for everyone – there’s one decent taverna in the village and not much nightlife beyond sitting outside with a bottle of Assyrtiko. But if you’re the type who gets tired of fighting crowds for a decent beach photo, or you actually want to hear yourself think on vacation, this place delivers. The fact that it’s got a 9.8 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s one of those spots that does exactly what it promises without any gimmicks. Just good beds, reliable hot water, and that view that makes you understand why people have been living on these islands for thousands of years.

  nice welcome set, ingredients for continental breakfast, wine, sweets, etc. high quality especially comparing to Kattavia conditions. All new, good design, fully equiped, all useful accesories for cleaning. Host took reasonable decision at one small issue…

  The hosts were very kind and communicative, and the villa was lovely. The welcome treats were such a thoughtful bonus. The size of the villa was perfect and very clean, plus there was much needed AC in every room. We also loved the seating area in the courtyard. It was a great experience all around!

  Amazing apartment with an exceptional kind host. The apartment was equipped with everything we could wish. It was very comfortable for 6 persons.

  Even just a minute walk from the centre with shop and restaurants very quiet in the night (the other apartments were not occupied). Clean, well equipped, friendly and kind owners. We would definitely return again for our next Prasonisi windsurfing stay.
  
  What could be improved: Terrace was directly next to street but there is no traffic at all and one hardly meet anyone walking by while sitting there.
  
  There is no window in the bedroom, so getting fresh air in is a bit difficult. AC worked well.

  Our hosts were the most helpful people possible, a real pleasure to meet them in the village every now and then. We once had an issue with the water on one occasion – some naughty kids turned it off at night – and we got immediate help to fix it. Manolo was very quick in responding to our questions and always spot on with his recommendations or advice. The house itself is worth every Euro. It offers plenty of space, shade and isvery well equipped / furnished. It is also conveniently located and about 50 metres to all four restaurants in the village. So cooking was not needed every dinner or lunch… 😉 I can highly recommend booking the house and meeting the hosts!

  Beautifuly designed and furnished town houses in Kattavia. You have all the amenities you would need and even more. The place is ideal for everyone who plans to kitesurf on Prasonisi beach (8min by car). The owners welcomed us with basket of fruit, snacks and coffee. Really nice gesture. Excellent value for money and would def come back if on Rhodes again.
