You know what struck me first about Kastrena House? It’s this beautifully restored traditional building that sits right in the heart of Asklipiion – and I mean literally steps from the ancient ruins of the Asklepieion sanctuary. Most people rush through this village on day trips from Rhodes Town, but honestly, staying here overnight gives you this incredible advantage of having the archaeological site practically to yourself early in the morning.

The hotel itself feels like someone’s well-loved family home that just happens to have been converted into accommodations – which, knowing Greek hospitality, is probably exactly what happened. The rooms have this authentic island character with stone walls and traditional furnishings, but they’ve clearly invested in proper amenities (the air conditioning actually works, thank god, because those August afternoons can be brutal). I particularly loved how quiet it gets at night once the tour buses head back to Rhodes Town. The only sounds you’ll hear are maybe some distant conversation from the village taverna and the occasional motorbike puttering down the narrow streets.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the location knowledge you get from the staff – they’ll point you toward the hiking trail that leads up to the old castle ruins, which most tourists completely miss. The breakfast spread includes local honey and homemade preserves, and they source their olives from groves literally visible from the terrace. Parking isn’t really an issue here like it is in some Greek villages – there’s space near the entrance, though you might need to do some creative maneuvering if you’re driving anything bigger than a compact car. The whole area feels authentically Greek in a way that the more touristy spots around Lindos sometimes don’t, if that makes sense. Sure, it’s not right on a beach, but you’re maybe a fifteen-minute drive to some genuinely beautiful, less crowded stretches of coastline that locals actually use. That 8.8 rating honestly feels about right – it’s the kind of place that delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re trying to actually experience a place rather than just photograph it.

  New and clean luxury house, very friendly owners (who do not live close), lots of privacy, no neighbours, next to ancient castle. 10-15 minutes from quiet beaches, supermarkets and restaurants, nice terrace to have a wine and look at the stars in the evening, things to do: Lardos and Lindos towns closeby

  Excellent place to stay, in immaculate condition. Would definitely recommend. Hosts super friendly. If we go back next year we will try and stay here again!

  The house is basically brand new, we were just the second guests in the house. We were staying with children and for the 5 of us there was just more than enough room. And two bathrooms one with shower and the other with a bath, an excellent choice with children. The kitchen had all the appliances that one could ask for. The location in a small greek village was just what we were looking for. The host was so very friendly and welcoming and caring that we’re extremely grateful, glad, very happy that we got to meet them in person. Thank you very much indeed.
  Just at a walking distance there was a traditional greek restaurant Nikolas Taverna which was very very nice and the food was just amazing!

  Ein wunderbar ausgestattetes Haus mit Allem was man braucht. Eine grandiose Aussicht auf Berge und Meer,mit täglich atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergang. Morgens Hirsche auf der Wiese gegenüber. Besitzer immer erreichbar und sofort zur Stelle wenn es mal ein Problem gab. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Erkundung der Ibsel.
  
  What could be improved: Das der Urlaub vorbei war und unsere abrupte Abreise wegen einem annulierten Rückflug von EasyJet. So konnten wir uns nicht persönlich verabschieden.

  Wir waren die ersten Gäste im neu gebauten Ferienhaus oberhalb von Asklipio, einem hübschen Bergdorf im Süden von Rhodos. Das Haus ist sehr geräumig (zwei Bäder), voll klimatisiert und bietet mit zwei Schlafzimmern und einer großen Wohnküche inkl. riesiger Sofaecke ausreichend Platz für mindestens vier Personen, sogar ein Kamin für kalte Nächte ist vorhanden. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet, man konnte wie zu Hause kochen. Eine Spülmaschine wäre noch empfehlenswert. Von der Terrasse aus hatte man einen herrlichen Blick auf die Küste von Gennadi und die Berglandschaft von Rhodos (u.a. Atavyros). Die Gastgeber Michalis und Stamatia waren sehr freundlich und haben sich sehr um unser Wohlergehen gekümmert. Ein Parkplatz steht direkt vor dem Haus zur Verfügung.
  
  What could be improved: Leider haben im Dorf in der Nacht mehrere Hunde gebellt. Nachdem die Gastgeber mit dem Nachbarn gesprochen haben, wurde es etwas ruhiger. Mit geschlossenem Fenster konnte man jedoch gut schlafen. Die Matratzen waren uns persönlich etwas zu hart.
