Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Island Boutique Hotel? The way they’ve managed to carve out this little oasis right in the heart of Rhodes Town without feeling like you’re stuck in tourist central. I mean, Ko Street isn’t exactly quiet – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the medieval walls and all that Old Town chaos – but somehow the hotel itself feels removed from all the hustle. The building has this weathered stone facade that blends perfectly with the surrounding architecture, and honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing this was my place for the night.

The thing about staying here is that you get the best of both worlds without the usual compromises. You can stumble back from dinner at one of those tiny tavernas tucked away in the Old Town’s maze of cobblestone streets, but you’re also close enough to the newer part of Rhodes if you want proper shopping or that big grocery store near Mandraki Harbor. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing revolutionary, but they’ve got character. Mine had these thick stone walls that kept things surprisingly cool even in late July, and the bathroom was actually spacious enough to spread out your stuff (always a win in boutique hotels). I’ll be honest though, the WiFi can be a bit spotty if you’re trying to work from your room, but it’s fine in the lobby area.

What really sets this place apart is the staff’s local knowledge – they’re not just handing you the same tourist brochures everyone else gets. The guy at reception (I think his name was Dimitris?) steered me toward this incredible little beach about 15 minutes south of town that I never would have found otherwise. And when I mentioned wanting to avoid the cruise ship crowds at Lindos, he suggested going early Tuesday morning instead of the weekend – spot on advice. The breakfast situation is pretty standard Continental fare, but they source their honey and yogurt locally, and you can taste the difference. One small thing that might bug some people: there’s no elevator, so if you’re on the third floor with heavy luggage, just know you’re in for a workout. But honestly, for an 8.7 rating and the location you’re getting, it’s hard to complain. This isn’t the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, but it’s the kind of spot where you actually feel like you’re experiencing Rhodes rather than just passing through it.

Reviews

  • Petros from Greece – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

The hotel is easy to find next to the beach close to the aquarium and the casino. Well maintained hotel, good value for money!! The old town is 15min walk and all shops nearby, recommendations from the reception were good but old town restaurants overpriced. Overall we enjoyed our stay relaxing at the jaccouzi 😀

What could be improved: Short -stay but highly recommend

  • Nefeli from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

Central location with many shops, bars and restaurants nearby. The room was huge and comfortable. We had access to the jacuzzi which was very clean and relaxing. The staff was really helpful and friendly. I would definitely go back and recommend it for your stay in Rhodes.

What could be improved: Everything was nice, nothing to say.

  • Nenad from Serbia – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

Very beautiful hotel on the beach, very friendly and kind staff, clean and comfortable, the ultimate location, just few steps from best city beach, central location. We were really enjoying and feel very welcomed , the staff was amazing and very helpful. Thank you for a great holiday and every moment we spend there.

  • Timothy from United Kingdom – 7 June 2025 (9/10)

The room was large, very clean, the shower was amazing, the terrace was enormous, the hot tub was a great addition too. The breakfast was a nice start to the day.

What could be improved: There wasn't anything that we didn't like.

  • Yana from Austria – 24 May 2025 (9/10)

Very supportive staff, helped with all our extra requests. They would keep calling everywhere to get what we asked (thank you Christos & team). We were amazed from such help! Clean appartment, comfortable bed, kitchen with all you need. 1 min to the beach. Restaurant in the building with tasty food, very big portions, friendly service who was also very supportive (travelling with toddlers). Baby/ stroller-friendly. We loved our stay and plan to come back.

  • Louise from United Kingdom – 10 May 2025 (8/10)

We stayed in the third floor room with the giant terrace. The space was fantastic and the cool breeze on the terrace was very welcome. The bed was very comfortable (as well as being huge).

The bathroom was lovely and the shower was excellent. The complimentary toiletries smelled really nice.

The location is really fantastic. Two minutes from the beach and well worth the five minute walk across to the west facing beach for the beautiful sunset. Some lovely restaurants on the doorstep and walkable to the marina and old town (though the hotel was happy to call a taxi for us when needed and the taxi drivers we encountered were also all very nice).

The staff were great, especially the gentleman that was on each morning. Very friendly and accommodating and we were able to organise a late checkout for 5pm the day we left which was very useful for a late flight.

What could be improved: The breakfast, honestly, was one of the worst breakfasts I've had at a hotel. The "hot" food wasn't even slightly warm any of the days we ate across the week. I strongly recommend you don't pay for this and instead walk two minutes round the corner to the Stay Gastropub for a great breakfast.

The photos of the room we booked all feature a jacuzzi. It should be noted that the jacuzzi was empty and unplugged. This didn't damage our enjoyment of the room at all, but if it's important to you, be aware that it might not be available for use. It is probably worth checking with the hotel.

A mention about the air conditioning because I always check reviews for this. In the room we were in it was completely useless, but we did spend several hours in a different room on the day we departed and the air con in there was really good, so it seems it is hit and miss.

  • Jarkko from Finland – 28 April 2025 (9/10)

    Nice, neat room
    Close to beach

What could be improved: Distance to old town

  • Tami from United Kingdom – 7 April 2025 (9/10)

Close to bus stop 10min walk. Close to the beech. Restaurant and coffee shop close.

  • Nik from United Kingdom – 7 February 2025 (9/10)

It’s convenient, all the amenities in walking distance.

What could be improved: We like it very much, I think it’s depending on what view you get, we had the sea/casino view and there isn’t anything we didn’t like.

  • Joe from United States – 13 January 2025 (9/10)

The room was very nice. The front desk was very helpful and people very friendly. Had a small issue and they helped us work it out. Everything in walking distance. The breakfast that came in the price of the room was tasty and fresh. We ate a very satisfyng meal in the restaurant of the hotel.

What could be improved: I really have no compalints.
