You know what struck me first about the Irene Palace Beach Resort? It’s not actually in Kolymbia village itself – it sits just outside on this quieter stretch where you get all the benefits of being near town without the constant buzz of scooters and tour groups. I mean, you can still walk to the main strip in about ten minutes if you want those tavernas and souvenir shops, but honestly, most evenings I found myself just staying put because the resort’s setting is pretty sweet.

The whole place has this relaxed, family-run feel even though it’s clearly a proper 4-star operation. Check-in was smooth – no drama with the rooms being ready, which you know can be hit or miss in Greece during peak season. What I really appreciated was how the staff actually remembered my name after day two, and the front desk guy (Dimitris, I think?) gave me solid local tips that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots. He pointed me toward this little beach cove about a 15-minute walk south that hardly anyone knows about – much better than the main Kolymbia beach if you’re not into crowds.

The rooms are well… they’re what you’d expect for a 4-star resort, nothing fancy but genuinely comfortable. Air conditioning works properly (crucial in July), the shower has decent pressure, and the balcony views are either pool-facing or you catch glimpses of the sea through the pine trees. I actually preferred the pool view because it was quieter – the sea-view rooms can get a bit of road noise from the coastal road, though it’s not terrible. Food-wise, the breakfast spread was solid with proper Greek yogurt and honey, fresh fruit that was actually ripe, and they do these little cheese pies that became my daily addiction. Dinner at their main restaurant was surprisingly good too, especially the fresh fish – they source it locally, and you can tell.

The pool area is where this place really shines, honestly. It’s got that perfect size where it feels spacious but not overwhelming, surrounded by enough loungers that I never had trouble finding a spot, even in August. The pool bar serves decent cocktails without the resort markup being completely insane, and there’s this shaded area with comfortable seating where I spent most afternoons with a book. The whole vibe is pretty international – lots of German and British families, some younger couples, but everyone seemed genuinely relaxed rather than that frantic vacation energy you get at some places.

Location-wise, you’re about a 20-minute drive from Lindos if you rent a car (which I’d recommend), and Rhodes town is maybe 45 minutes. The local bus stops right outside the resort, though service can be a bit irregular – typical for the islands. There’s decent parking if you do get a car, and honestly, having wheels opens up so much more of the island. The nearby Tsambika Beach is absolutely worth the short drive, and you’ll want to hit up Anthony Quinn Bay while you’re in the area.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind, but the Irene Palace delivers exactly what it promises – a comfortable, well-located base for exploring this part of Rhodes with staff who actually care about your experience. That 8.2 rating feels about right to me.

  Very close to beach and a short walk to town and harbour. Staff very friendly and helpful . Restaurant serves food for most tastes . Good Greek night.
  
  What could be improved: Had to get them to fix the shower and the patio furniture was jaded . Room close to ventilation for the kitchen .The entertainment was limited for adults and good for children .

  The staff in this hotel are just lovely. Reception, bars, restaraunt, shop, everyone! They couldn't do enough for us.
  
  Location is beautiful, right on the beach!
  Our superior sea view room was very lovely and clean and obv sound proofed as we didn't hear a thing.
  
  What could be improved: We had a superior room which was lovely, the standard rooms looked very dated and very basic, I would have wanted to be moved tbh, def would not have wanted to stay.
  Not ideal for British lone travellers as we were the only Brits there and we came accross some quite rude fellow guests, no acknowledgement we were even there (felt like flies on the wall most of the time).
  Sunbeds are an issue round the pool, people reserving in the morning and not returning til afternoon, very unfair and should be stopped.

  Nice affordable hotel in a good location. Tsampika beach is 10 mins drive, Anthony Quiin Bay 20 mins away.

  Our family stayed at Irene Palace Hotel from October 8th to 15th, and it was a truly wonderful experience. We were a group of five: a couple in their 30s with a 2-year-old, plus grandparents and a great-grandmother. The service was exceptional, the location perfect, and the sea simply stunning. The staff were incredibly attentive and warm, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable for all generations, especially our little one.
