So here’s the thing about Ioli’s Apartments – it’s tucked away in Archangelos, and I mean properly tucked away, not just marketing speak. You know how some places claim to be “hidden gems” but they’re actually right on the main tourist drag? This isn’t one of those. Archangelos is this authentic Greek village about 30 minutes south of Rhodes town, where you’ll still hear more Greek than English on the streets and the tavernas are run by families who’ve been there for generations.

The apartments themselves are honestly better than I expected from the photos. Ioli (the owner) clearly gets that travelers want space to breathe – these aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms. The kitchenettes are actually functional, which is rare, and there’s this nice attention to detail in the decor that feels personal rather than corporate. The balconies overlook the village, and in the evenings you can hear the cicadas and catch glimpses of local life happening below. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night – no air conditioning units humming from neighboring buildings, no traffic noise, just that peaceful village silence you don’t realize you’re craving until you have it.

The location is sort of perfect if you want to explore Rhodes beyond the obvious spots. You’re close enough to the east coast beaches (Stegna is maybe 10 minutes away and way less crowded than the northern beaches), but you’re also positioned well for day trips to Lindos without dealing with the cruise ship crowds staying right there. Ioli knows the area inside and out – she’ll point you toward the family-run taverna where the locals eat (it’s not marked in English, which is probably why it’s so good) and tell you which beaches to hit at what times of day. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you factor in this kind of personal attention. Sure, it’s not luxury resort territory, but honestly, the authentic experience and genuine hospitality hit different. If you’re the type who’d rather discover a village bakery than eat at the same international chain you have back home, this place gets it.

  If you have a car and love isolated quiet places, this is for you. Located 5min by car from Stegna (up the hill), 15min by walk, just a few houses, a small village with goats and olive trees. 2 separate rooms/units, each with a tiny bath and one with the main kitchen unit. Self check-in with clear instructions, no time limit to arrive. We got some nice surprises from time to time (food, presents, etc), when we reported some problems we got a reply immediately. The view is fantastic and the quietness is priceless. For the price I could not expect better, we enjoyed our stay. Oh, we had some lovely cats as well who came every day and made us company.
  
  What could be improved: Parking is not easy on the designated parking place (steep and narrow). If you're not an experienced driver, leave the car 50m up the road at the restaurant. We parked there once, but then just left the car up at the restaurant, it was easier for us.

  The view from the terrace, the open-air shower, and the friendly hosts made our stay wonderful. The hosts were flexible with check-in and check-out times, treated us to a delicious homemade Greek dish, Moussaka, and even left some souvenirs for us to take home.
  
  What could be improved: We enjoyed having goats and cats around as they added to the atmosphere. However, the animals are active early in the morning. For those who are light sleepers, consider bringing earplugs 🙂

  Perfectly equipped little house, beautiful view from the terrace. The oranges and lemons from the host's garden were very tasty. Very close to the beach (by car). The big seafood restaurant at the beach is excellent too.
  
  What could be improved: The railing on the terrace was a bit high, blocks some of the view for people with small height while sitting.

  A lovely quiet place to stay the only noise you hear are from the goats that wander past and the gentle noise of the stream, surrounded by trees but lovely view of sea, equipped with everything you could need , taverna within short walking distance which is used by locals as well. Hosts are very nice and friendly and any messages were responded to straight away. Its the second time we have stayed here and would do so again. Thank you very much

  Stunning view. Cosy little place with a lovely feel to it. Attention to details and nicely stocked with useful bits and pieces. It's a little dream. I didn't want to leave. It has a washing machine which is useful if you're travelling. Goats roam free. Nice cool mountain breeze and attractive patio seating area.
  Beautifully kept.
  Barbecue possible. Taverna two minutes away.
  
  What could be improved: Not great if you don't drive. No shops and just the one taverna which was pleasant enough.
  I was very lucky to get a lift both ways but otherwise think I would have struggled.
  There are two units. As a solo traveller I was given keys for only one. The inferior one. Which was pretty annoying. I thought I'd paid for the whole thing. It's just as well I was alone.
