Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about the Ibiscus Hotel? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Nisirou, which honestly I’d never heard of before booking – but it turns out to be this perfect spot where you’re close enough to everything in Rhodes Town without dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window. I mean, you can walk to the medieval Old Town in maybe eight minutes, but at night it’s actually peaceful enough to sleep with the windows cracked open.

The thing is, most four-star places in Rhodes Town either feel like they’re trying too hard or they’re sort of generic, but the Ibiscus has this relaxed vibe that just works. The lobby’s got these nice touches – local artwork, comfortable seating that doesn’t look like it came from a hotel catalog – and the staff actually seems to know the area well enough to give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the obvious tourist traps. I stayed there in late May (which is honestly the sweet spot before the summer crowds hit), and the front desk guy told me about this little taverna tucked behind the Mosque of Suleiman that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, good AC (crucial in Rhodes summers), and the beds are actually comfortable, not those weird European firm mattresses that feel like sleeping on cardboard.

What I really appreciated was the attention to small stuff that matters when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The shower has proper water pressure, there’s enough outlets near the bed for your phone charger, and – this might sound silly but it’s not – the curtains actually block out light so you can sleep past sunrise if you want to. The breakfast is decent, nothing spectacular, but they do fresh local honey and good Greek yogurt, plus the coffee’s strong enough to get you going. Parking can be a bit tricky in that area (Rhodes Town wasn’t exactly designed for cars), but they work with you to figure it out. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it does what it does really well. If you’re looking for a home base to explore Rhodes without paying resort prices or dealing with the noise and crowds of the main tourist strips, this place gets it right. Plus, you’re close enough to walk down to Mandraki Harbor for dinner, but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that you feel like you’re staying somewhere the locals might actually recommend.

Reviews

  • Michael from United States – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

The location of the hotel was perfect, right across the street from the beach and within walking distance to the old town and ferry terminals. We were given an upgrade to a suite, which was great. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of food.

What could be improved: The elevator was a bit cramped.

  • Ayse from Turkey – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

Very clean, great location, great staff, perfect breakfast.

  • Kazimierz from Poland – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

Great location, very good and varied meals.

What could be improved: The image is slightly spoiled by dirty windows in the dining room, smudged elevator doors (cleaners apparently do not have sufficient resources or skills) and a torn seat cover.

  • Christian from Finland – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Great location. Cheap prices on the Hotel bar.

Good selection of foods at breakfast buffet.

  • Liliia from Ukraine – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Super close to the beach, clean, nice stuff, all shops close to the place and town 5 min walking from the hotel.

What could be improved: Same breakfast every day plus not so delicious, mostly pork options for meat, tourists are mostly pensioners

  • Nakje from North Macedonia – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

I had a wonderfull stay at Hotel Ibiscus last week. The rooms were spotless, the staff incredibly polite and helpful, and the location couldn’t be better – right on the beach and just a short walk to the Old Town, city center, and marina.
The food was delicious with great variety and taste. Everything exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

What could be improved: Nothing at all.
