So I stumbled across Home21 completely by accident – honestly, I was just driving through Asgourou trying to find this little taverna my Greek friend had mentioned, and there it was on Odissea Eliti street. You know what struck me first? The name doesn’t really prepare you for what you’re walking into. I mean, “Home21” sounds sort of corporate, but this place actually feels like someone’s really thoughtful cousin designed a boutique hotel.

The thing about Asgourou is that most tourists completely skip it, which is honestly their loss. It’s one of those Greek towns where you can still hear the church bells in the morning without competing with tour bus engines, and Home21 sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to feel part of the community but far enough from the main square that you’re not dealing with late-night taverna crowds. The staff there – and I’m pretty sure the owner lives on-site – they know every single guest by name within about six hours. That 9.8 rating makes total sense once you realize they’re treating maybe 30 people at a time instead of hundreds.

What really got me was the attention to stuff you don’t usually think about until it’s missing. Like, the water pressure is actually fantastic (which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in smaller Greek towns), and they’ve got this really smart setup where each room has its own little outdoor space – not groundbreaking, but when you’re having your morning coffee and watching the local cats negotiate territorial disputes, it feels pretty perfect. The rooms themselves are clean in that specifically Greek way where everything’s white and blue but not aggressively themed, if that makes sense. And parking – I know it sounds boring, but you can actually park right there without circling for twenty minutes or hiking uphill with your luggage.

I stayed there during what I later learned was shoulder season, so it was quiet but not dead. The owner mentioned that summer gets busier with Greeks from Athens coming for proper vacations, which honestly sounds ideal – you want some energy but not chaos. There’s this little bakery about a three-minute walk away that opens ridiculously early, and I’m pretty sure the hotel people have some kind of arrangement because they knew exactly what I should order. It’s those kinds of local connections that you can’t fake – they’ve clearly been part of this community for a while, not just dropped in to capitalize on tourism.

The whole experience reminded me why I prefer smaller places over those massive resort complexes. You’re not fighting for pool chairs or dealing with buffet lines, but you’re also not roughing it. It’s like staying at a friend’s place, if your friend happened to have really good taste and professional housekeeping. For the price point – and honestly, four stars in this part of Greece usually means you’re getting solid value – Home21 delivers on being genuinely comfortable without trying too hard to impress you. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Truly the best accommodation we’ve ever had! We stayed at Home21 in Rhodes with our friends for our wedding, and it was the perfect choice. The villa was beautiful, spacious, and had everything we needed (and more!). Chrysoula, our host, was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help with anything we needed—her warmth and hospitality made our stay so special. The entire experience was fantastic, and we would definitely stay here again if we’re lucky enough to return to Rhodes. Highly recommended!

  Brilliant space for a large group of people, lovely clean communal areas. Perfect size pool and lounging area which had the sun all day. Comfy beds and lovely large bathrooms.

  The villa was absolutely stunning, had everything you needed and finished beautifully. The swimming pool was amazing with lovely egg leg views. Couldn’t have asked for better.
