I mean, when you’re winding along that Eparchiaki Odos road, you’re probably thinking “where the hell am I going?” – but that’s exactly the point. This isn’t some cookie-cutter hotel where you hear tour buses rumbling by at 6 AM.

The house itself feels like stepping into your Greek grandmother’s place, if your grandmother had impeccable taste and knew how to blend traditional architecture with modern comfort. Hara’s got this way of making everything feel effortless – the stone walls keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside, and honestly, the silence here is almost shocking if you’re coming from Athens or one of the island party towns. The traditional detached setup means you’re not sharing walls with anyone, which is brilliant because you can actually have conversations on the terrace without whispering. I loved that the windows face different directions, so you get these beautiful cross-breezes that make air conditioning almost unnecessary (though it’s there when you need it). The kitchen’s fully equipped too, which matters because the nearest taverna is a short walk but you might want to grab groceries in the bigger town nearby – locals shop in the mornings before it gets too hot, just so you know.

What really sets this place apart is that Hara clearly lives in the area and knows all the little things that make a difference. She’ll tell you which hiking trails are manageable in summer heat, where to park when you’re exploring the village (it’s not immediately obvious), and honestly, her restaurant recommendations are spot-on. The whole setup feels like you’re staying at a friend’s family home rather than a rental property. That 9.7 rating isn’t just people being polite – it’s because places like this are rare. You’re getting authentic Greek island life without the tourist markup or the chaos, and the house itself is beautiful enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it. Just don’t expect nightlife within walking distance – bring books, wine, and maybe download some podcasts before you arrive.

  This is a lovely, traditional home in an untouristy village. We were treated with generous hospitality by our host, Hara, and by everyone else we met in Malona. Hara went above and beyond to make our stay special.
  We particularly enjoyed the upstairs terrace in the evenings. And the downstairs terrance was fun for dinner on the traditional open fire.
  There are lovely beaches only a short drive away and the location is perfect if you want to explore some of the quieter parts of the island.

  I recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible place with the most breathtaking views to the mountains and the old village. The location was absolutely stunning and provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation.
  
  The accommodations were impeccable – clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The host thought of every detail to ensure a comfortable stay, from the cozy bedding to the well-equipped kitchen.
  
  I cannot say enough about the beauty of sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine in the evening as the sun sets behind the mountains. It truly felt like a slice of paradise.

  Seconda volta che ci rechiamo a Malona a casa di Hara..
  Che dire la casa è splendida con ampio giardino e terrazzo panoramico due camere da letto e ampio soggiorno con cucina a vista in una casa tradizionale in pietra ed è un piacere viverla. Ma Hara ci ha anche coccolato con tanto regali come il vino la frutta ecc. ecc. ma soprattutto con i suoi ottimi consigli e gentilezza. Grazie Hara!

  Hara è stata molto disponibile, ci ha fatto trovare del cibo, ci ha fornito asciugamani e lenzuola in abbondanza. Ci sono ben 3 condizionatori, lavatrice, asse da stiro e la cucina è molto fornita. Bellissima terrazza. La posizione è perfetta, a metà dell' isola in una cittadina tranquilla e tipica, a due passi ci sono un supermercato e una taverna.

  Wir haben zwei wundervolle Wochen in Haras Haus verbracht!
  Das Häuschen entspricht absolut den Bildern. Es befindet sich in einem idyllischen, ruhigen Dorf. Es ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen ein Auto zu besitzen, um Restaurants und Strände ( Agatha Beach sehr zu empfehlen) zu erreichen.
  Das Haus ist 2-stöckig und besitzt eine traumhafte Terasse ( das absolute Highlight). Im Haus befindet sich soweit alles, was man braucht wie z.b. Handtücher, Bettwäsche, Seife, Klimaanlagen etc.
  Die Küche ist mit dem Nötigsten ausgestattet, man findet was man braucht! Die Kaffeemaschine ist nur sehr langsam (früh anmachen). Ansonsten war alles toll!
  In der Nähe befindet sich ein kleiner Supermarkt mit einer netten Verkäuferin, dort findet man alles Nötige.
  Es gibt in dem Dorf eine kleine Taverne, welche uns nicht so gut gefallen hat. Jedoch gibt es innerhalb von 10min Autofahrt ganz tolle Tavernen wie zb. Tommy's Taverne (Charaki) und Hellas Taverne (Archaggelos).
  Hara ist eine wundervolle Gastgeberin, die sich regelmäßig nach uns erkundigt hat und immer bei Fragen ausgeholfen hat. Ihre Gastfreundlichkeit und Fürsorge ist etwas ganz besonderes!!! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder! Danke liebe Hara!

  Casa ben attrezzata, posizione in un piccolo villaggio molto carino.
