Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Gorgona Studios? It’s tucked away on Athinodorou Street in a way that feels intentional – close enough to Faliraki’s main strip that you can stumble back from dinner without calling a taxi, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the British stag parties stumbling past your window at 3 AM. I mean, Faliraki has a reputation, but this little pocket actually feels more like the Greece you picture in your head.

The studios themselves are honestly better than I expected for a 4-star place. I’ve stayed in “luxury” hotels that felt more sterile than this. Each unit has this lived-in quality – not shabby, just… real. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (none of that two-burner nonsense), and honestly, you’ll want to use them because the local market is just a few minutes’ walk down the hill. The balconies are where this place really shines though. Most face toward the sea, and while you’re not waterfront, you get these glimpses of blue between the olive trees that make you forget you’re in a tourist town. The morning light hits just right – I actually found myself getting up early just to have coffee out there, which never happens at home.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the island beyond just the resort bubble. The woman at reception (Maria, I think?) pointed me toward this little taverna up in the hills that I never would have found otherwise – proper Greek food, not the tourist stuff. She also warned me about the wind patterns for the beach days, which sounds small but actually saved me from a pretty miserable afternoon when the meltemi was kicking up. The pool area gets busy around noon when people retreat from the beach heat, but early evening it’s perfect for a swim while the sun sets. There’s something about the way the light bounces off the white walls that feels very distinctly Dodecanese – you’ll know what I mean when you see it. The only real downside is parking can be tight during peak season, though honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need the car much anyway. Walking to the main beach takes maybe ten minutes, and the path actually takes you past some gorgeous old stone walls and wild herb gardens that smell incredible in the morning.

  Very clean, nice bed and great air con! Beautiful pool&bar area. Lovely host who welcomed us with some tasty wine 🙂 located in a quiet neighborhood (what is important in Faliraki at night…) would definitely come back!

  The highlight of the place are the owners. Nicest people you’ll ever meet and will help you with anything you need. Very friendly! Amazing frappes too.
  
  The property was very clean, someone came and cleaned the room every other day which was ideal and fresh towels daily. The pool was clean and big enough for everyone to enjoy and lots of beds around the pool as well, some shaded and some in the sun.
  
  The vibe is lovely- chilled and lots of regulars when I was there and they were all very sweet as well.
  
  I was working remotely so wifi was hugely important to me – it was better than the wifi I have back home, so no complaints there. If you’re a remote worker, the pool and rooms have their own wifi so that’s great and lots of tables in the shade to work away.
  
  If you’re going for holidays it’s also within walking distance of bars and restaurants so you don’t need a car.
  
  I also went across the road to the local gym which was great! Fully equipped and nice people there as well.
  
  I liked it so much I plan to bring my friends next year to work remotely for a month 🙂

  This is the 4th time we’ve been to Gorgona and it’s the best place for a holiday! the rooms are clean and just what you need. The pool and bar area is stunning! The hospitality from the owners George and Tasos is fantastic! We feel so at home here!
