Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Golden City Center Suites? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Dimitriou Theodoraki – but you’re literally a three-minute walk from the medieval Old Town walls. I mean, you can hear the evening buzz from Sokratous Street (that’s the main tourist drag with all the souvenir shops), but honestly, the hotel itself feels surprisingly peaceful. The building has this modern Mediterranean vibe that doesn’t try too hard to look ancient like some places in Rhodes do.

The suites are genuinely spacious – and I’m not just saying that because European hotel rooms are usually shoebox-sized. These actually have proper living areas with kitchenettes that you’d use, not those token mini-fridges and hot plates. The balconies face different directions, so if you’re booking in summer, maybe ask about which way yours points because the afternoon sun can be intense (though there’s decent air conditioning). What I really appreciated was the attention to small stuff – proper blackout curtains, multiple USB ports, and bathroom amenities that don’t smell like industrial disinfectant. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work; I left my room a bit messy one morning and came back to find everything perfectly arranged, even my charging cables were neatly coiled.

Location-wise, this place nails it without being obvious about it. Sure, you’re close to the Palace of the Grand Master and all that medieval architecture tourists come for, but you’re also walking distance to where locals actually hang out. There’s this little kafeneio around the corner where old Greek men play backgammon – you’ll hear the click of tiles if you keep your balcony door open in the evenings. And honestly, being just outside the Old Town means you avoid those narrow cobblestone streets when you’re dragging luggage, but you can still stumble home after dinner at one of those rooftop restaurants overlooking the harbor. The staff – especially Maria at reception – know the island well and will steer you toward places that aren’t completely overrun with cruise ship crowds. Parking can be tricky in this part of Rhodes Town (like, really tricky), but they’ll sort you out with directions to nearby spots that won’t cost you a fortune. I stayed here in late September when the summer madness was winding down, and it felt like having a proper home base rather than just another hotel room. The 9.5 rating makes sense – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works exactly as it should.

  The bed stability during earthquake was surprising. Even tho the whole island was shaking we were safe. The owner was very friendly and helpful and definitely if we are again on the island we would return to the accommodation
  
  What could be improved: The street under the accommodation is quite frequented so it’s more noisy, for late sleepers is a big compromise

  First of all, the host is really helpful. He sincerely helped us in every way, gave us advice and was right in all of them ☺ Our room was very useful and clean. Everything we needed was available. It is a great advantage that it is in the city center, the best restaurants and cafes are within walking distance and very close to the old town. We will choose this facility again on our next Rhodes holiday ☺

  A fantastic place to stay. Near all attractions and bus station. Great host. We stayed in deluxe room with great view and superb bubble bath. Nice little touches with fruit, bathrobes , water, wine and slippers. A great apartment.

  Location in the new town, only minutes from the waterfront, but close to the old town, was perfect for visiting Rhodes town. The room, on the first floor, was spacious, comfortable and well fitted. It had a balcony overlooking one of the busy shopping streets, great for sipping coffee and watching the world go by. Close by, numerous restaurants meant we were spoiled for choice when eating out. Konstantinos was a great host, very welcoming and and helpful.

  Perfect location of the apartment – close to the main bus stop, close to the beach, close to the old town. Very comfortable bed. Cleanliness. Very nice and responsive host.
