You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rhodes, but Giotas House in Psinthos genuinely surprised me. When you first pull up to this little village about 20 minutes inland from Rhodes town, you might wonder if you’ve made the right choice – it’s definitely not your typical beachfront resort area. But honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place special.

The house itself has this lived-in warmth that you just can’t fake. I mean, it’s clearly been lovingly maintained (hence that perfect 10 rating, which seemed almost too good to be true until I actually experienced it), but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of those cookie-cutter hotels near Faliraki. The owners – and I’m pretty sure it’s still family-run – have this way of making you feel like you’re staying with relatives who actually want you there. The rooms are comfortable without being fancy, and there’s something refreshing about that approach. You’ll have everything you need, but more importantly, you’ll have this sense of authentic Greek hospitality that’s becoming harder to find in the more touristy spots.

What really sold me on Psinthos, though, was the location itself. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your door onto the beach, but you’re in the heart of actual Rhodes – the part where locals live and work and gather at the kafeneio in the evenings. There’s this excellent taverna just down the road where the owner’s mother still makes the best moussaka I’ve had on the island (and I’ve tried a lot, trust me). The village sits in this green valley that stays surprisingly cool even in July, which was a welcome relief after dealing with the coastal heat all day. If you rent a car – and you really should – you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the interior villages that most tourists skip and the beaches on both sides of the island. Actually, some of my favorite days were spent driving through the mountain villages in the morning, then heading to one of the quieter beaches on the west coast for the afternoon. The parking situation is never an issue here, unlike in Rhodes town where you’re circling forever looking for a spot. It’s just… easier, you know? More relaxed. The kind of place where you actually slow down instead of rushing from one photo opportunity to the next.

  We had the best accommodation we’ve ever experienced. The hosts, Giota and her husband Georgias, were incredibly kind and welcoming, greeting us with homemade cake (and other’s) upon our arrival. They were very accommodating with our late arrival time, always be ready to help with anything we needed, and generally went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful.
  The house is perfectly equipped, exceeding the standard expectations. It felt like coming home.
  It is located in a very calm town. Around the corner, there is a nice café, a square with a store, and good restaurants. Location is well placed to trips all around the island.
  We definitely recommend this accommodation.

  Η φιλοξενία ήταν υπέροχη. Τό σπίτι βρίσκεται σε ένα ήσυχο χωριό. Εξαιρετική θέση για εμάς που μπορούσαμε να πάμε και βόρεια και νότια του νησιού.Στο σπίτι δεν σέ ενοχλεί κανένας ήχος ούτε το πρωί ούτε το βράδυ. Αυτό για εμάς είναι ανεκτίμητο. Όμως το χωριό δεν είναι αδιάφορο. Έχει μια μεγάλη πλατεία όπου τριγύρω υπάρχουν ταβέρνες με εξαιρετικό φαγητό,σούπερ μάρκετ, φούρνος, καφές, παιδική χαρά.Και ένα πολύ όμορφο ποταμάκι με πλακόστρωτο δίπλα μέσα στα δέντρα για να περπατήσει κάποιος. Τό σπίτι έχει όλες τις ανέσεις. Ή κουζίνα και το μπάνιο είναι εξοπλισμένα και καινούργια. Σίγουρα θα επιστρέψουμε.

  Giota und ihr Mann haben uns vom Flughafen abgeholt und nach Psinthos gefahren. Sie haben uns sehr genau und freundlich das Haus gezeigt und alles erklärt. Also ging die Schlüsselübergabe ganz unkompliziert. Ähnlich haben wir es auch bei der Rückfahrt gemacht – so ein toller Service.
  Die Küche ist tiptop ausgestattet, groß und gepflegt. Allein drei verschiedene Möglichkeiten, Kaffee zu machen, sprechen für sich.
  Das Bad ist neu gefliest und schön ausgestattet. Die Waschmaschinenbenutzung war super – so haben wir weniger Kleidung mitnehmen müssen.
  Im Haus war es ein angenehmes Wohnen – für sich alleine und in Ruhe. Es ist genügend Platz für 2-4 Personen.
  Tipps für den Aufenthalt:
  Am Marktplatz gibt es viele verschiedene Tavernen. Uns hat es im Smaragd bei Giorgius Markou am besten gefallen und geschmeckt. Dort zeigt sich richtiges griechisches Leben – und nicht schnelles Abfertigen von Touristen.
  Wer gerne einen gut gepflegten Roller mieten möchte, wird am besten bei Max Moto in Kolymbia fündig (Abhol- und Bringservice möglich….sehr guter Service)
  
  What could be improved: Die Terrasse geht Richtung Süden, was im August trotz richtig toller moderner Markise etwas warm war.
  Für empfindliche Rücken sind die Matratzen eventuell eine Herausforderung.
  Manche vermissen evtl. eine Spülmaschine – wir nicht!

  Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in Giotas House, vielen Dank nochmal an die Gastgeber. 🥰🤗Die Dame ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, bereits vor der Reise hat sie alle Fragen und Anliegen zeitnah geklärt .
  Die Begrüßung auf Rhodos war sehr sehr herzlich, wir haben uns alle über den leckeren Kuchen, den Saft und das frische Obst im Kühlschrank gefreut! 🥰 Das Haus war sauber und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt benötigt, selbst eine kleine Kühltasche mit Kühlakkus im Gefrierfach war vorhanden! Die Küche war voll ausgestattet mit genügend Geschirr, Spülmittel , verschiedenen Kaffemaschinen etc. Da es sich um ein komplettes Häuschen handelt, haben wir unsere Privatsphäre sehr genossen.Das Schlafen auf Federkernmatratzen war für meinen Mann etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, ich persönlich habe dort sehr gut geschlafen.😊 Parken direkt an der Straße war jedes Mal problemlos möglich.
  Das Dorf liegt abseits der Touristenmassen. Wer nicht in den Hotelburgen übernachten möchte und die Ruhe bevorzugt, ist hier genau richtig. Die Dorfbewohner sind sehr herzlich, es gab in Fußnähe einen kleinen Supermarkt, mehrere Tavernen und eine Apotheke.
  20 Minuten Fahrt zum schönen Tsambika Beach.🥰
