Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Gia’s Luxury Residence on Ilioupoleos street – the area around Asgourou isn’t exactly what you’d call the beaten path, you know? But sometimes that’s exactly what makes a place special. This little gem sits tucked away from the main tourist chaos, and I mean that in the best possible way. You’re still close enough to everything that matters, but far enough out that you can actually hear yourself think.

The moment you step inside, you get why this place has that 9.4 rating. Gia (and yes, there’s actually a Gia – she’s usually around during check-in) has this knack for making spaces feel both elegant and lived-in. The rooms have this sort of understated luxury thing going on – think quality linens that actually feel expensive, not just look it, and those little touches like proper reading lights and enough outlets where you actually need them. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a Greek property, with rainfall showers that have decent water pressure (always a gamble in smaller places). What really got me though was the attention to detail – fresh herbs on the balconies, local artwork that doesn’t feel like it came from a hotel supply catalog, and windows that actually open properly to let in that Mediterranean breeze.

You know what really sets this place apart? It’s the location without feeling isolated. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from the main strip, but there’s something to be said for being able to walk to that little bakery down the street where the locals actually go – they do this incredible spinach pie that’s worth the trip alone. Parking’s surprisingly easy here too, which anyone who’s driven around Greek islands in summer will appreciate. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental in the late afternoon heat, but honestly, with those cross-breezes and the fact that you’re not dealing with street noise all night, it’s barely an issue. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between authentic Greek hospitality and actual comfort – without paying resort prices or dealing with cruise ship crowds – this is your place. Gia’s got something special here, and that rating isn’t just tourist fluff.

  Mooi ruim huis van alle gemakken voorzien zorgde voor een heerlijk verblijf. Op verzoek was het fijne zwembad al gevuld voor ons eind april. Ook was er al wat eten en drinken voor ons klaargezet in de koelkast, erg attent!
  
  What could be improved: Helaas was er tijdens ons verblijf nog geen voorziening voor voldoende warm water op de 2 dagen dat het niet zonnig was, maar met deze feedback gaan ze aan de slag werd aangegeven. .
