You know what struck me first about Gennadi Villa Mary? It’s tucked away in this quiet corner of Gennadi where you can actually hear the waves from the nearby beach – not the touristy stretch everyone flocks to, but the more peaceful southern end where the locals go. I mean, Gennadi itself is already pretty laid-back compared to the circus that is Faliraki or Lindos, but Villa Mary feels like you’ve found this little secret spot that somehow earned itself four stars without losing that authentic Greek island charm.

The place has this wonderful family-run vibe – honestly, from the moment you walk in, it’s clear someone actually cares about the details. The rooms are spotless (and I’m picky about that stuff), but more importantly, they’re thoughtfully set up. You’ve got proper blackout curtains if you want to sleep in after those long Greek dinners that don’t start until 9pm, and the air conditioning actually works well, which… let’s be real, in a Rhodes summer, that’s not always a given even at fancier places. What I really appreciated was the little kitchenette setup – nothing fancy, but perfect for making morning coffee or keeping some of those amazing local peaches cold. The balcony views vary depending on which room you get, but even the “garden view” ones are lovely because the property is so well-maintained with all these flowering vines and olive trees.

Here’s the thing about Gennadi that makes Villa Mary such a smart choice – you’re far enough south that you escape the cruise ship crowds, but close enough to Prasonisi (about 15 minutes by car) if you want to check out the windsurfing scene or just see where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean. The beach is literally a three-minute walk, and there’s this little taverna called Manolis just down the road that serves the best grilled octopus I had on the entire island. Villa Mary’s location puts you right in walking distance of the village center – which honestly is just a handful of streets, but that’s exactly the point. You can grab fresh bread in the morning, chat with the locals at the kafeneio, and still be back for a poolside nap by noon. The family running the place knows everyone in town too, so they’re great for recommendations that you won’t find in guidebooks. I ended up at this incredible family winery in the hills because Maria at the front desk mentioned it casually – turns out her cousin runs it. That’s the kind of experience you get here that you just can’t manufacture at the big resort chains.

  Great location, superb views, very clean villa & it has all the facilities you would want. It was everything we needed as a group of water sports lovers as it’s straight onto the beach and the outside shower is a big bonus. Great bar nearby, Gennadi is a lovely village just 15 mins walk away with plenty of nice restaurants. The hosts were fantastic from booking to departure, great communication and helped with many things and went above and beyond in looking after us.
  A truly fabulous holiday and we’ll definitely be going back.

  We stayed at Villa Mary for ten days. The villa is very clean and modern with all the amenities you would ever need. Air conditioning and TVs in every room.
  The fridge and pantry were full of goodies for our first few days and there was nothing missing in the villa at all. The patio and bbq area were very comfortable and private. The pool was perfect for cooling off or lounging in, but without doubt the private beach area was the best part of our trip. We will definitely be back!

  In real identical to the pictures of of the house. The rooms were very clean, we had a warm welcome and the fridge was full for the first day. We never expected that special service. There are some air mattress for the pool and games for outdoor activity, also.
  The view to the open sea and the place is unique!
  The communication was easy and Pantelis and his wife are very helpful and friendly.

  We had such a lovely time on our holiday thanks to Pantelis & Flora and their beautiful villa. Myself and four friends stayed here for 11 nights. We had a great time! The villa was super comfy and felt really luxurious and private. Everything was lovely and clean when we arrived and there was a cleaner who visited half way through our stay as well to freshen the place up, which was a nice touch. The kitchen was super functional and was stocked with loads of items for us to use during our stay. They even have board games and things for the pool available. The beds are also very comfortable and there is aircon in all of the rooms. The area is great as well, and we made a few friends in Gennadi thanks to the taverna recommendations from our hosts. The place and the people are lovely!

  Pantelis and Flora are amazing hosts. All communication was fast and easy. The villa is very well located, right on the pebbled beach. There is a beach bar just a few minutes walk from the villa. Great for lunches and drinks. The nearby Gennady has many tavernas and restaurants, as well as bakery, greengrocer and a small supermarket. If you rent a car it is easy to travel to nearby tourist attractions, such as Lindos ( and there are many more). On our arrival we were greeted by lovely Flora. The rooms and the outside terrace were immaculately clean and the kitchen well stocked with cupboard essentials and fresh fruit and vegetables. The mid stay cleaning service was a very nice touch. We had a late flight back home and our hosts kindly let us to have a late checkout without additional charge. Overall we had a wonderful time at Villa Mary, it is a great place to relax and recharge. Huge thank you to Pantelis and Flora!
  
  What could be improved: There is only one shower, which wasn't a problem for us, for the most of our stay there were only three people. But if you have a larger group I suppose it could get busy.

  It was a real home from home. Everything you could want was there. Very clean and modern. The outside area was perfect the villa is slightly away from town with only one neighbor which made it quite private and very relaxing. The garden is lovely and being so close to the sea is wonderful.

  Das Haus ist einfach nur perfekt. Es ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet.
  Pantelis hat uns am Abend sehr nett empfangen. Es gab Wein, Bier, Ouzo, Wasser, Kekse, Obst, Gemüse und einen reichlich gefüllten Kühlschrank.
  Die Lage direkt am Meer ist einmalig und es kommt tatsächlich selten jemand den Strand entlang.
  In der gemütlichen Sitzecke unter den Bäumen haben wir oft den Tag ausklingen lassen.
  Der kleine Ort Gennadi ist mit einer kleinen Gasse und ein paar urigen Tavernen zu Fuß zu erreichen.

  Ein tolles Haus in einer super Lage,modern und liebevoll eingerichtet.Die Vermieter sind sehr engagiert. Kühlschrank war gefüllt und es gab sogar ein Gastgeschenk. Der leere Strand mit Schirmen und Liegen vor dem Haus.
  Gennadi mit Restaurants und Geschäften ist mit dem Auto schnell zu erreichen. Unbedingt die Mojito Strandbar in Richtung Lachania besuchen.

  Lokalita, klid, perfektní vybavení – člověk se cítí jako doma, vše co potřebuje je ve vile k dispozici. Navíc čistý bazén, moře na dosah ruky. Pro středoevropana něco fantastického. Na dovolené jsme byli s rodinou syna, který má malé dítě. I na bezpečí takto malých dětí majitelé myslí – zábrany na schody, vyvýšený bazén.

  Die Villa ist einfach ein Traum. Es wurde an alles gedacht. Herr Pantelis der Besitzer hat uns mit kleinen Geschenken empfangen und der Kühlschrank war auch schon für den ersten Tag gefüllt mit allem was man so braucht. Er ist ein sehr Hilfsbereiter und Liebevoller Mensch. Es war einer der schönsten Urlaube für uns. Die Lage der absolute Traum! Die Villa ist so liebevoll eingerichtet, man fühlt sich sofort wohl und möchte am liebsten gar nicht mehr weg.
  Wir können es kaum erwarten nächstes Jahr wieder dort Urlaub zu machen! Ein großes Dankeschön an den Vermieter für diese tolle Zeit und zu erwähnen – man merkt absolut, dass in dieser Unterkunft soviel Liebe steckt!
