You know what struck me first about Gennadi Grand Resort? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet corner of Rhodes that most tourists completely miss – and honestly, that’s part of its charm. I mean, everyone heads straight to Lindos or stays up north near Rhodes Town, but Gennadi village sits down on the southern coast where the island still feels authentic. The resort itself is this sprawling property that somehow manages to feel intimate despite having all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a five-star place.

The location is pretty brilliant when you think about it. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Gennadi Beach, which – let me tell you – is nothing like those packed strips of sand you’ll find elsewhere on the island. It’s this long stretch of pebbles and sand where you can actually hear the waves instead of kids screaming and music blasting from beach bars. The village itself is small enough that you’ll recognize the local taverna owners after a couple days, and there’s something really nice about that. I particularly loved how the resort sits back from the main coastal road, so you don’t get that constant traffic noise, but it’s still easy to explore. The drive to Lindos takes maybe 20 minutes if you want to do the whole ancient acropolis thing, and honestly, coming back to Gennadi’s quieter vibe felt like a relief.

What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to nail that balance between luxury and not feeling stuffy. The grounds are gorgeous – lots of olive trees and local plants that actually belong here instead of some generic tropical landscaping. The pools (there are several) are positioned so you’re not staring at your neighbor’s balcony, and the main infinity pool has this view that stretches right out to the Mediterranean. Staff-wise, they seem to genuinely know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and the concierge actually gave me solid recommendations for local spots instead of just the usual tourist traps. The rooms are spacious and well-designed, with those little touches that show someone was thinking – like proper reading lights and bathroom storage that actually works. I stayed in May, which I’d recommend because the weather was perfect and the resort wasn’t completely packed yet. The restaurant situation is solid too, with a couple different options on-site, though I’d definitely suggest venturing into the village for dinner at least once. There’s this family-run place called Mylos that locals go to – incredible lamb and probably the best Greek salad I had on the entire trip. All in all, if you’re looking for a Greek island experience that feels more grown-up and less spring-break-y, Gennadi Grand Resort delivers in a way that actually justifies that 9.2 rating it’s got.

  There was absolutely nothing not to like, the resort, the facilities, the gym, the staff, the food especially the executive chef Yiannis who catered for all our needs even if it was not out in the buffet…

  We keep returning to Greece as we love the food and the people, and the Gennadi Grand certainly delivered. The staff were exceptional and we didn’t come across a single person who wasn’t smiling or happy to help – it was some of the best service we’ve come across. As for the hotel itself, it was very comfortable and clean and the facilities were great. The food was very good with an expansive buffet, and we really enjoyed the live pianist and violinist at breakfast. All in all we had an excellent time here and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Rhodes.

  Amazing hotel with great service. Rooms are spacious with modern design and a comfortable bed. The staff is extremely helpful and welcoming.
  Although it's not targeted as adults only, the hotel is not really kids friendly so it's very quiet and calm. Multiple swimming pools, a private beach with a bar and a lot of peace and quiet.
  Breakfast is solid with good variety, nothing too fancy but no complaints.
  
  What could be improved: Dinner at the main restaurant lacks variety and not at the level expected from the hotel.
  The a la carte restaurants are nice. Other options in the snack bar are nice too. You won't be starving but it's not a hotel for a culinary experience. Nevertheless, I still rate the hotel as amazing.

  Very clean and modern, facilities were great and we really enjoyed having our own private pool.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing we didn’t like. It is quite remotely located with only a very small village nearby but it doesn’t take long at all in a cab to visit the fantastic Lindos.

  Gorgeous, clean, relaxing and nicely spread out – never felt too busy and had spacious rooms with a gorgeous private pool and the staff went above and beyond! My kids loved Davide and Francesco in the kids club – all the staff really want to make sure your stay is comfortable and pleasant
  
  What could be improved: Avoid the shrimp salad which has 2 tiny tiny shrimps in and I have fed back that the cooking class needs to state it is for adults only – we managed to book on and had 2 very very disappointed kids (love cooking) when we were then told they weren’t allowed but the staff were very apologetic and accommodating

  I've stayed in a lot of 5-star hotels, but this hotel is definitely the best I've stayed in! The food is fantastic, the staff, the service, the rooms, the facilities, the ambiance, the cleanliness, the peace, the live programs, the aqua aerobics (the girl who leads it is ideal and processional, congratulations!). I have no complaints whatsoever. In one word, the best hotel ever!

  It was our second stay a we will definitely be back. Beautiful resort, great service. Little town is 2-minute car ride away with more food options.. Be sure to book room with private pool. wort the little extra.

  We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and we were amazed by the extremely high level of service and love we received from all who work here. You can tell everyone enjoys being there and takes great pride in their work. One of the managers, Paris, was especially attentive and took special care to be sure everything was perfect for us and really went the extra mile to be sure we wanted for nothing.
  
  Usually I have to confirm and be sure all the wishes I discussed in emails with a venue about a special experience/birthday surprise are going to be carried through – but with Gennadi all was above and beyond expectation with zero work from me! The mille-feuille I asked them to make for Robert's birthday cake was the absolute best I have ever had and in true Gennadi style, they went the extra mile and even put gold flakes on top!
  
  We loved hearing about everyone's country (the staff is from all over Europe) and Petra who gave amazing service at dinner was even from Hungary, where my grandmother came from! The food was perfection – complements to the executive chef who was always keeping an eye on everything. The room was beautiful and the housekeeping ladies keep the resort absolutely spotless.
  
  What could be improved: Having to leave after 8 days was the only downside!
