Here’s the thing about Gennadi — it’s still relatively undiscovered, which means you get that authentic Rhodes experience without fighting crowds for a good spot on the sand. The beach here is actually stunning, with this mix of pebbles and sand that the locals prefer over the packed tourist beaches up north. You’re about 20 minutes from Lindos if you want to do the whole ancient acropolis thing, but honestly, I found myself just wanting to stay put most days. There’s a handful of traditional tavernas within walking distance, and the local bakery makes these incredible cheese pies that became my daily breakfast routine.

The Apartment Experience

My apartment was simple but had everything I actually needed — and I mean that in the best way possible. The kitchenette was compact but functional (perfect for making morning coffee and storing those amazing local tomatoes from the village market), and the balcony had partial sea views that were lovely in the evenings. The air conditioning worked well, which you’ll definitely appreciate during those hot August afternoons. What really impressed me was how clean everything was — you can tell the owners actually care about maintaining the place properly.

Beach Life & Activities

The beach access is where this three-star place really shines. You’re literally a two-minute walk to some of the clearest water I’ve seen on Rhodes, and because Gennadi isn’t overrun with tour groups, you can actually find a quiet spot to read or nap. The water gets deep pretty quickly, which is great for swimming but maybe not ideal if you’re traveling with very small kids. I spent most afternoons just floating around or walking along the shoreline — it’s that kind of place where doing absolutely nothing feels perfectly right.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you’re expecting a resort with multiple pools and a fancy spa, this isn’t your place. But if you want to experience what a Greek island vacation actually feels like — waking up to the sound of waves, buying fresh fish from the local fisherman, and having genuine conversations with the family who runs the place — then you’ll get it. The couples I met there all seemed to have that same relaxed, happy vibe that comes from finding somewhere that just works. Plus, with parking right on-site, you can easily explore the southern part of the island, which honestly has some of the most beautiful and empty beaches I’ve ever seen.
