So I stumbled across Galini Apartments on Fidiou Street pretty much by accident – you know how it is when you’re wandering around Rhodes Old Town, everything sort of blends together until you find that one spot that just clicks. This place honestly surprised me. It’s tucked into this quiet corner where you’re still very much in the heart of the medieval town, but somehow the tourist chaos feels miles away.

What really got me was how the owners actually live this stuff – I mean, they’re not just running another cookie-cutter operation. The apartments have this lived-in quality that’s hard to fake, like someone’s grandmother decorated them but with surprisingly good taste. The stone walls are thick enough that you barely hear your neighbors (which, let’s be honest, is half the battle in these old buildings), and there’s this courtyard area where you’ll find yourself lingering longer than planned. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, if your friend happened to have excellent taste in linens and knew exactly how to make coffee the Greek way.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked – the location is actually perfect for people who want to explore but don’t need to be right on the main drag. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Sokratous Street where all the action is, but when you come home at night, it’s genuinely peaceful. And parking? Well, you’re in the Old Town, so forget about it – but honestly, that’s exactly why you stay here. You park once (there’s a decent lot about ten minutes away) and then you’re just walking everywhere. The staff – and I use that term loosely because it feels more like family – will point you toward the best spots that aren’t overrun with cruise ship crowds. They sent me to this tiny taverna that I never would have found otherwise, tucked behind the Jewish Quarter.

The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but everything works the way it should, the AC actually cools things down (crucial in July), and the bathrooms have been updated without losing the character. I mean, you’re sleeping inside medieval walls, so there are quirks – doorways that’ll test your reflexes, stairs that aren’t exactly uniform – but that’s part of the charm. What impressed me most was how clean everything stayed despite the old stone and the dust that just seems to be part of life in the Old Town.

The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting this authentic Rhodes experience without sacrificing comfort. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to hang out in your room for a bit before heading out, maybe with some wine from the little shop around the corner, planning your next day while listening to the sounds of the neighborhood settling in for the evening.

  Very spacious. Lots of storage. Huge kitchen even a washing machine. Rhodes old town is truly fab. Easy to get away from the tourists and so much ancient stuff to see.

  What could be improved: The only suggestion is to provide clear directions ie find Nimmos Restaurant and walk up small laneway next to it. You will see Galini at the end and entrance to the left.

  Old stone house right in the centre of old Rhodes. A stone's throw from the sea, set in the heart of the Medieval quarter. Restaurants, cafes, bars and shops are a minute walk away.
  
  The apartment itself has everything – a fully equipped kitchen, even a washing machine. You could comfortably live here and not want for anything.
  
  The patio gets a lot of sun, with an outlook over the terracotta rooves and pebbled laneways that surround the property. Your view is framed by the sky, with a shade of blue you only see in the Mediterranean.
  
  It's an ancient building, but fully restored. Decent furnishings, everything works. Thick stone walls give a sense of peace, and it's slightly off the road, so there's no traffic noise. The local cats check you out, but they're quiet too. I was there in the middle of off season, so a lot of places were closed down.
  
  Responsive hosts – messages were answered immediately and all queries answered. I couldn't fault this place for anything. Definitely one of the best places I've stayed and I'll stay again if I go back.
  
  What could be improved: Check for the video they send to help find the place. Medieval laneways can be a maze if you don't know where you're going. It's easy to miss the Galini sign over the property, but once you're there, you're fine.

  Great apartment, very well appointed. Great position in the old town. Bedding clean and fresh, host helpful and punctual. Had good WiFi and Could access Netflix on the TV. it was cosy and warm. Visiting in winter we thought we might be cold.
  
  What could be improved: These aren’t criticisms, just nice to haves! An outside light that worked independently for when we came back to apartment at night as it was very dark and we had to use the torch on the phone. A full length mirror and also a usable mirror in the kitchen or bedroom area would have been nice. We loved the apartment though and would definitely stay again. The only criticism was the bright green lights on maybe a smoke alarm or similar. They were really bright at night, luckily I had an eye mask or they would have annoyed me.

  I stayed here solo for a week and had the best time! This property is in a very central spot but so quiet in the evenings. The facilities were modern and clean. I particularly enjoyed my afternoons on the porch area, enjoying the scenery. I would definitely return, this was a fantastic stay during my travels.

  great service attitude : agent met me at prearranged location (1min away) for checkin. she helped me with my luggage and showed me how to work the appliances. my request for 5pm late checkout was immediately granted without hassle. when the microwave didn't work, the agent showed up within 5 mins and 15mins later brought a replacement. when i asked for heavy blanket, housekeeper brought it (on scooter) within 5 mins. room was service on 3rd day.
  
  appreciate the kitchen being separate from bedroom. well equiped with kitchenware / cookware for self-catering. dining table that seats four doubled as my computer work table. spacious bathroom with washing machine. big private terrace where laundry can be dried. comfortable mattress and pillows. after dark the apartment has motion sensor outdoor lights as lane (very short stretch) has no streetlight. thoughtful touches like multi-socket plug for using multiple kitchen applicances and complimentary bottled water.
  
  located at akandia gate in old town. ideal for arrival / departure by ferry port which is an easy 15mins walk away. although the gate and a popular restaurant is 1 min walk away, the apartment was quiet.
  
  What could be improved: nothing really. unusual to find emergency exit light flashing green above the door but i use eye-shade when sleeping so it didn't bother me. would have been nice to provide laundry detergent but it was easy to buy little sachets from the nearby supermarket for a few euros.
