You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places across the Greek islands, but Flora’s Traditional House in Malona really caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you’re driving along that winding Επαρχιακή Οδός Μαλώνας road, honestly, you might wonder if your GPS has lost its mind because Malona feels like it’s tucked away from everything. But that’s exactly the point. This isn’t some cookie-cutter resort where you’re fighting for pool chairs at dawn; it’s the kind of place where you actually hear the olive trees rustling and catch the scent of wild herbs drifting in through your window.

Flora herself (yes, there’s an actual Flora) runs this place with the kind of attention that makes you feel like you’re staying with a particularly organized aunt who happens to have impeccable taste. The house has this wonderful lived-in authenticity – I’m talking thick stone walls that keep things cool even in August, wooden shutters that creak just enough to remind you where you are, and these gorgeous traditional tiles that somehow never feel cold under your feet. The rooms are spacious without being cavernous, and each one feels slightly different, like they evolved naturally over time rather than being stamped out by some design committee. Parking’s easy, by the way – something I always worry about in these mountain villages, but there’s plenty of space and Flora will show you exactly where to tuck your rental car.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it sits in the village. Malona isn’t touristy in that overwhelming way – you’ll find maybe one or two tavernas where locals actually eat (the one near the little church makes incredible lamb, just saying), and there’s this quiet rhythm to the place that you don’t get in the more popular spots. Mornings are perfect for walking the village paths with a coffee, and evenings… well, the sunset views from Flora’s terrace are honestly ridiculous. I mean, you’re looking out over terraced hillsides that seem to go on forever, and the light hits everything just right around 7 PM. The breakfast is proper Greek – not some international buffet nonsense – with local cheeses, honey that tastes like it came from the neighbor’s hives, and bread that’s still warm. Flora’s got this way of suggesting day trips that aren’t in any guidebook, little beaches or hiking trails that feel like secrets. Sure, you’re about twenty minutes from the more bustling parts of the island, but that drive becomes part of the charm – and honestly, after a day of exploring, coming back to Malona feels like coming home. It’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Greece beyond the postcard shots.

  Flora is very helpful, the house is nice, clean with a good atmosphere. Supermarket is 5 minutes by walk and the beach is 10 by car.

  Lokalita byla úžasná – ne přímo na pláži, ale v dosahu několika minut, přesně, jak nám to vyhovovalo. Na okraji malé obce, kde bylo možné dělat výlety po okolí

  La casa di Flora è assolutamente stupenda, meglio di quello che appare in foto e comoda per 5 persone. È molto spaziosa e ariosa, arredata molto bene e completa di tutto. Pulizia impeccabile. C'è anche un piccolo spazio esterno con tavolo e sedie per cenare al fresco e stendere il bucato. Il paese di Malona è poco toccato dal turismo, c'è il supermercato, il bar la farmacia e una buona taverna. In pochi minuti siete al mare, nella graziosa baia di Charaki, con un quarto d'ora a Lindos e circa venti minuti a Faliraki. Dall'aeroporto dista circa 45 minuti. La posizione è strategica per avere tranquillità, riposo senza essere troppo isolati. Flora e sua madre sono persone gentilissime e disponibili, consiglio a tutti di prenotare con fiducia

  Host gentilissima, casa stupenda super accessoriata in un paese tranquillo, solo sfiorato dal turismo, ma che proprio per questo mantiene la genuinità della tradizione. Grazie ancora a Flora ai figli ed alla mamma per averci accolto come in famiglia.

  Ξεχωρίσαμε περισσότερο τη φιλοξενία και την πολύ θερμή υποδοχή από την κ. Φλώρα και την οικογένειά της!
  Από την πρώτη μέχρι και την τελευταία στιγμή η Φλώρα ήταν πάντα διαθέσιμη κατατοπίζοντας μας για ο,τι χρειαζόμασταν.
  
  Το σπίτι ήταν υπέροχο, με μία αισθητική που συνδιάζει καλαίσθητα το παραδοσιακό και το μοντέρνο στοιχείο.
  Πολύ καθαρό και ευρύχωρο, με όλες τις ανέσεις, διαθέτει μέχρι και πάρκινγκ με σκέπαστρο!
  
  Τέλος η περιοχή είναι πολύ ήσυχη, ιδανική για χαλάρωση, και έχει πολύ όμορφες παραλίες και αξιοθέατα κοντά, εύκολα προσβάσιμα με αυτοκίνητο.
  
  Η διαμονή μας στο σπίτι της Φλώρας, πρόσθεσε πολλές ευχάριστες αναμνήσεις στις φετινές μας διακοπές στην υπέροχη Ρόδο!

  tout était super, la maison est au top, jolie, propre et bien équipée avec une petite plage magnifique à proximité.
  Nous avons été accueillies avec beaucoup de sympathie par la tante et maman, qui sont disponibles si besoin.
  La literie est impeccable, la climatisation parfaite, des petits commerces sympathiques à proximité (restaurant, superette au bout de la rue).
  Si nous revenons à Rhodes, nul doute que ce sera chez Flora's house !
