You know what caught me off guard about Filoxenia Apartment? The name actually means something here – filoxenia is Greek for “love of strangers” or hospitality, and honestly, it’s not just marketing fluff. I’ve stayed in my fair share of Greek accommodations over the years, and this place on Mitropolitou Ioakeim street really gets it right. The location in Asgourou is one of those spots that feels authentically Greek without being touristy – you’re walking distance from local tavernas where they don’t even have English menus (which is always a good sign), and the morning sounds are church bells and old men arguing about politics over coffee, not tour buses.

The apartment itself has that lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake. I mean, sure, it’s got the modern amenities you need – the wifi actually works, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a dying helicopter, and the shower has proper water pressure – but there’s character here too. The balcony faces toward the hills, and if you’re up early enough (or late enough after a long dinner), the view is pretty spectacular. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – it’s clearly designed by someone who understands that travelers might actually want to cook. There’s a proper coffee setup, not just some sad instant packets, and the local grocery store is literally a two-minute walk down the street. The owner, well, they seem to understand that sometimes you just want to be left alone, but they’re incredibly responsive when you need something. No hovering, no constant check-ins, just solid Greek hospitality.

Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season – the street gets pretty crowded, especially on weekends when locals are visiting family – but there’s usually something within a block or two. The area gets quiet after about 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re one of those people who needs actual silence to sleep. I stayed there in late September, and honestly, the timing couldn’t have been better. Still warm enough for the balcony in the evenings, but past the intense summer heat that makes exploring during the day feel like punishment. If you’re the type who likes to wander around without a plan, this neighborhood rewards that approach – there are these little alleyways that branch off the main street, each with its own personality. It’s the kind of place where you might end up having a two-hour conversation with someone’s grandmother about her tomato garden, even if neither of you speaks the other’s language particularly well.

  The property is fantastic!!! Sarantis and his wife were fantastic hosts. The place is very clean, cosy, equipped with all necessities for your holiday, rather you stay in or you go out. It is modern, colorful, stylish, corresponds to the pictures!!!
  
  The area is nice, with easy access, there is a coffee shop and a super market only 1min away by car.

  the apartment is on the ground floor, which is actually a plus for the island climate, because it keeps the place cool. And still there is light inside.
  The terrace is perfect for breakfast and dinner!
