You know what struck me first about Eramel Cozy Apartment? The name actually undersells it – this isn’t some cramped studio situation. When you’re walking up Velissariou Street (which honestly took me two tries to pronounce correctly), you might wonder if you’re in the right spot because it feels more residential than touristy, but that’s exactly what makes this place special.
The sea view they promise isn’t one of those “if you crane your neck and squint” situations either. I mean, Rhodes Town has plenty of places claiming water views, but from the main room here, you’re actually looking out over the Aegean without having to do yoga poses to see it. The apartment itself feels like someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile rental – there’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t get at the big chain places down by Mandraki Harbor. The kitchen’s properly stocked too, which matters more than you’d think when you want to grab fresh stuff from the morning market near the Palace of the Grand Master and actually do something with it.
What I really appreciated was the location balance – you’re close enough to the Old Town that you can wander over for dinner without planning an expedition, but far enough from the main tourist crush that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds streaming past your window at 8 AM. The neighborhood has that authentic Greek island vibe where you’ll hear locals chatting on their balconies in the evening, and there’s a little kafeneio around the corner that serves proper Greek coffee, not the tourist stuff. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Rhodes Town), but the host actually gives you decent directions to spots where you won’t get a ticket – something you definitely can’t say about every place I’ve stayed. The only minor thing is that the WiFi gets a bit sluggish during peak hours, but honestly, if you’re glued to your laptop while looking at that view, you’re doing vacation wrong anyway.
