Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Rhodes Town, and the Emerald Dream House on Omirou Street honestly surprised me in the best way. You know how sometimes a place just feels right the moment you walk in? That’s what happened here – there’s this intimate, almost residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying at a well-appointed friend’s place rather than just another tourist hotel.
The location is actually pretty brilliant, though you might not realize it at first glance. Omirou Street is tucked away from the main tourist chaos, which means you’ll sleep well (trust me, this matters in Rhodes Town where some streets turn into party zones after midnight), but you’re still just a five-minute walk from the medieval Old Town walls. I mean, you can literally see the fortifications from some of the upper floors. What I really appreciated was being able to duck into that little bakery on the corner for fresh bougatsa in the morning – you know, those small neighborhood spots that make you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though locals have been going there for decades.
The rooms themselves… well, they’re not going to blow you away with luxury, but there’s a thoughtful attention to detail that you don’t always get at four-star places. The air conditioning actually works properly (sounds basic, but you’d be amazed), and honestly, the beds are more comfortable than I expected. The bathrooms are modern enough without feeling sterile – sort of that sweet spot between character and functionality. I stayed during late June, and while the building can get a bit warm during the day, the evenings cool down nicely with the sea breeze that finds its way through the Old Town streets. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – there’s a small lot nearby, which in Rhodes Town is basically hitting the jackpot.
What really sets this place apart is the staff’s local knowledge. The woman at reception (I think her name was Maria?) didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – she actually marked out this amazing little taverna behind the Mosque of Suleiman that I never would have found otherwise. That kind of insider tip is worth more than fancy amenities, if you ask me. The 7.7 rating seems about right, actually – it’s solidly good without being pretentious, and the price point reflects that. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or rooftop pools, but you’re getting a comfortable base in one of the most historically rich neighborhoods in Greece, with people who genuinely care about your experience.

Great location. Easy access to the port for ferries to other islands.
What could be improved: The bathroom is accessed through one of the bedrooms, so it’s difficult for the other occupants!Despina from Australia – 26 June 2024 (9/10)
Location was good, located near many restaurants, shops in quirky streets. The property had everything we needed including the little extras such as body soap etc which came in handy. Met the owner and he was very friendly and welcoming. Loved the traditional design of the property.
What could be improved: Bathroom window not private, anyone upstairs can see in from the terrace. Needs a curtain or some cover.Bjorn from Norway – 9 May 2024 (8/10)
The location in a quite area, the roof teracce was nice, and the host very friendly.
What could be improved: Well, it was hard to do descent washing of the plates, glasses and so on. Abd two wine glasses in a flat for four people? And there should be repair of the beds on the roof teracce.Rodrigo from Netherlands – 8 November 2023 (9/10)
Very good location in the heart of the city. Nice terrace if you like to wake up and have a coffee outside
What could be improved: No kitchen if you want to cook at home.Wayne from United Kingdom – 3 July 2023 (9/10)
It was an amazing location, right in the centre of the old town. Jon is the host, he was very helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for him. The apartment was large, it was pretty basic but had everything we needed, and it was also spotless. It had a lovely rooftop terrace, this was a suntrap, with views of the other rooftops across the old town.
What could be improved: The sunlounges/chairs on the rooftop terrace, could do with repairing or replacing.Marianne from United States – 21 November 2022 (9/10)
Phenomenal place in the heart of old town. The perfect spot if you are looking for the authentic Rhodes experience. Our host was friendly, accommodating, and communicative! He offered to spruce the place up on our second day.
The private rooftop added to the magic. Very spacious for two people… Two large bedrooms, and a main room/foyer. Many windows allowing the natural sounds of old town to spill in.
Would definitely stay here again on our next visit!
What could be improved: Only downside was the lack of a sink in the kitchen, and no coffee. Chairs on the roof need updating (small rips).Nadia from South Africa – 2 June 2025 (7/10)
Loved the location and Jannis went out of his way to assist us . Very helpful and friendly . Very responsive to our messages.
What could be improved: The kitchen appliances and kitchenware were very tired and old . Fridge needs replacing and crockery insufficient for an apartment that can host 5people . Although there was small stove provided it was inside a cupboard and did not look like it was functioning . With a small amount of money all of these could be rectified which would make the apartment really nice .
Access to the property along the cobble roads was a challenge !David from South Africa – 27 April 2025 (8/10)
Brilliant location in the old town, but close enough to walls to walk out and meeet taxi to airport
What could be improved: Unfortunately google maps doesn’t pick up exact location, gets you close. Message host when you are incoming and he comes and fetches youOben from Czech Republic – 25 April 2025 (9/10)
Host is amazing. Very responsive. very accommodating. the place is really clean. great location. the rooftop has amazing view. silent street. spacious room, spacious bathroom. great internet.
What could be improved: the kitchen was under equipped. the accommodation was 2 max 3 people, so it most probably has enough 2-3 spoons forks glasses but, not much backup. this is the slightest small insignificant feedback.Andrew from United Kingdom – 29 May 2024 (8/10)
Lovely host, great location, large apartment, classic and traditional in look and feel. Didn’t venture to roof space excellent host, good communication
What could be improved: No hook for shower. Very limited tea and coffee and toiletries.
