Okay, so I stumbled upon Elli’s Private House pretty much by accident when I was hunting for something authentic in Ialyssos – you know how it is when you’re tired of those massive resort complexes that all look the same. This place sits right on Ευεργετων street, which honestly took me three tries to pronounce correctly, but it’s actually perfect because you’re close enough to everything without being right in the tourist chaos.

The thing that struck me first was how Elli (yes, there’s an actual Elli, and she’s lovely) has managed to keep this feeling like you’re staying at someone’s actual home rather than just another rental property. I mean, the little details give it away – there are family photos mixed in with the décor, the kitchen actually has proper olive oil and not those tiny hotel packets, and the balcony overlooks this quiet neighborhood where you can hear the locals chatting in the evenings instead of drunk tourists stumbling around. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works properly and the beds are actually comfortable, which… well, you know how hit-or-miss that can be in Greece sometimes.

What really sold me on recommending this place is the location knowledge you get from staying here. Elli pointed me toward this little taverna about a ten-minute walk away that I never would have found otherwise – the kind where they don’t even have an English menu but the moussaka is incredible. And here’s something practical nobody tells you: parking around Ialyssos can be a nightmare during the day, but staying on Ευεργετων means you can actually find a spot in the evenings when you come back from the beach. Speaking of which, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the coast, which is far enough that you don’t get the morning beach crowd noise but close enough that you’re not spending half your day commuting. The house itself has this worn-in comfort – I’m talking about wooden floors that creak in just the right way, shutters that actually block out the light when you want to sleep in, and a shower with proper water pressure. That 8.8 rating makes total sense because honestly, the only thing I’d change is maybe having a proper coffee machine instead of the Nescafé situation, but that’s Greece for you.

  The house is renovated, the kitchen is new and is clean.
  
  What could be improved: There are no nets on the windows, even on the bathroom and a lot of mosquitos are coming inside the house. This was a problem for our family.

  Все понравилось. Чисто, местоположение потрясающее, в каждой комнате кондиционер, большая гостиная, потрясающие хозяева. Фото не сделала, но все как на фотографиях.

  Zeer rustig gelegen, erg behulpzame, vriendelijke gastvrouw. Ruim, gezellig, verzorgd. Mooie, rustgevende voortuin.
  
  What could be improved: De badkamer was voldoende voor 3 personen, maar lijkt me wat klein/ weinig voor 6 personen = maximale bezetting.

  What could be improved: Es sind keine 5-10 Minuten zum Strand, sondern 20-35 Minuten zu Fuss. Unattraktive Strasse/Umgebung – der Ort ist touristisch, aber sehr schlicht. Der Strand ist nicht schön.
