You know what struck me first about Elli’s House? It’s not actually in some touristy resort strip – it’s tucked along that winding road between Kalavarda and Embona, which honestly makes all the difference. I mean, you get the real Rhodes here, where you’ll hear roosters in the morning instead of tour buses revving up at dawn.

The place has this lived-in charm that most 4-star hotels try way too hard to manufacture. Elli (yeah, there’s actually an Elli, and she’s usually around) runs it like she’s hosting relatives, which sounds cheesy but it’s true. The rooms are properly comfortable – not Instagram-perfect, but everything works and the beds are actually good. What I really appreciated was the attention to small stuff: decent water pressure, reliable WiFi that doesn’t cut out when you’re trying to video call home, and those heavy curtains that block out the sun when you want to sleep in. The 8.6 rating makes sense because while it’s not flashy, there’s nothing to complain about either.

Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you – you’re perfectly positioned between the coast and the mountains, but you absolutely need a car. The nearest beach is about a 10-minute drive down to Kalavarda, which is brilliant because it’s not overrun with sunbeds and beach bars like Faliraki. And if you want to explore inland (do this, seriously), you’re right on the route to Embona where they make proper wine and the tavernas still serve locals, not just tourists. I actually discovered some of my favorite spots on Rhodes just by driving these mountain roads. The evenings are lovely here too – quiet enough that you can sit outside with a drink and actually have a conversation, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere if you want to head out for dinner. Parking’s easy, which anyone who’s driven around Greek islands will appreciate, and Elli’s always got solid recommendations for places that aren’t in the guidebooks. It’s one of those places where you end up staying longer than planned because it just feels right.

  Quiet and peaceful location on the west side of the island. Very good spot if you want to stay away from the crowds and visit a small typical greek village and sleep in a typical small house. The owner was very helpful and polite. We had some troubles with the bed and they provided free meals for us as a gesture of compensation and excuse. The accommodation was very cosy and equipped with everything you might need. Very close to all kite beaches. I do recommend!

  The house was absolutely fantastic. Very clean, beautifully furnished and nicely decorated, two separate bedrooms with comfortable beds, modern kitchen fully equipped, a nice bathroom with a shower, a modern television with the possibility to sign in for Netflix, and situated in a very quiet location . Many good restaurants a couple of kilometers away, almost all of them with private beaches.

  Great living conditions. Two large beds 3 air conditions, well equiped kitchen. From one of window great view to landscape with sea. There is empty field nearby to park the car.

  The flat had everything you need for some days, incl. kitchen equipment. It’s central in a small village with mini market, tavernas and a gas station. Also close to ancient Kamiros and the beaches of the westcoast.

  Das Apartment ist gut aus gestattet und bietet alles, was für einen mehrwöchigen Urlaub notwendig ist. Die Wohnung ist ebenerdig und verfügt über einen kleinen Vorhof mit Esstisch und Sonnenschirm mit einem abschließbaren Tor. Daher ist die Ferienwohnung gerade auch mit kleinen Kindern sehr zu empfehlen. Sogar draussen kann das WLAN genutzt werden. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und eignet sich hervorragend um die Insel zu entdecken. Direkt um die Ecke befinden sich zwei nette Tavernen, ein Bar, ein Minimarkt und ein Spielplatz.

  Czystość,bardzo dobry kontakt z właścicielką. Mieszkanie jest identyczne jak na zdjęciu. Duże,przestronne z pięknym tarasem. Jest ono kawalek od lotniska. Warto wziąć auto. W przepieknej miejscowosci z przemiłymi sąsiadami,którzy witali nas codziennie rano na spacerze. Obok są dwie restauracje i sklep. Co zrobiło na nas bardzo dobre wrazenie, ladowalismy w nocy i właściciel zrobił nam zakupy. To było przemiłe. Na miejscu jest wszystko co potrzeba…garnki,suszarka,toster,kawa,cukier. Rewelacja. Na rodos jesteśmy juz 3 raz i wrócimy napewno i na wyspe i do Ellis house. Polecam z czystym sumieniem. Obsługa i jakość na najwyższym poziomie.
