Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Elissa? It’s actually tucked right on Leoforos Kallitheas, which sounds fancy but is honestly just the main coastal road – though trust me, the location works perfectly. I mean, you’re literally steps from that gorgeous stretch of Kallithea beach, and there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t pretend to be hidden away on some secret cove when it’s right there in the mix of things.

The adults-only thing isn’t just marketing speak here – they really commit to it. The whole vibe feels intentionally grown-up without being stuffy, if that makes sense. I noticed it right away in how quiet the pool area stays, even during peak afternoon hours when most Greek resorts are buzzing with chaos. The staff actually seems to understand what adult travelers want, which is honestly rare. They’re not constantly trying to organize pool games or blast music – it’s more about creating these pockets of calm where you can actually hear the waves. Speaking of which, the sound of the Aegean is pretty much constant throughout the property, which sounds cliché but genuinely adds to the whole experience.

What really won me over was how they handle the details that matter when you’re trying to unwind. The rooms face either the sea or these surprisingly lush gardens (I got lucky with a partial sea view), and the blackout curtains actually work – crucial when you’re dealing with that intense Greek morning sun. Check-in was smooth, parking is sorted without drama, and here’s something I appreciated: they don’t blast air conditioning so cold that you need a sweater indoors. The food situation is solid too, though I’d still recommend wandering into Kallithea town for dinner at least once. There’s this little taverna about a ten-minute walk down the coast road that locals frequent – completely different energy but worth the contrast.

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of five-star places that feel sterile or try too hard, but Elissa strikes this balance between polished and relaxed that’s harder to achieve than it looks. Rhodes can get pretty hectic during summer, especially around the medieval town area, but this stretch of Kallithea maintains more of a laid-back coastal feel. You’re close enough to explore – the bus to Rhodes town stops practically at the front door – but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that you can actually breathe. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s the kind of place where small touches add up to something genuinely comfortable rather than just impressive on paper.

Reviews

  • Liraz from Israel – 18 June 2025 (9/10)

Amazing! They have 15 pools, bar, kiosk 3 restaurants, great breakfast and amazing service.
At reception Katerina Christos and Nefeti were always there to help, they were very kind!
Michael was amazing too, and Raphael’s and Deana the same. I’ll be back

What could be improved: We ate at the sushi restaurant and it was very expensive for very tiny portions, there were barely any vegetarian options and I left very hungry.
Also we were group of 3 people and we had a room with shared pool, outside there were 2 sun beds and I wish they could prepare to it better because we had to ask for another bed for almost every day

  • Dave from United Kingdom – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

The staff make all the difference in any hotel, but this team were exceptional. Rooms a very good size and well appointed. Food across all restaurants was exceptional

What could be improved: Could do with more outside seating in the evening bar.

  • Amit from Israel – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

We take a great service at the bar from Thanasis, Tasos, Mateo and spuros

  • Angela from United Kingdom – 11 June 2025 (9/10)

It is a very serene hotel, no loud music, friendly staff, great clean facilities. The breakfast spread was also so vast there’s something for everyone! The rooms are clean and gorgeous and we were even given a small sandwich when we checked in as we checked in super late in the eve. Such a nice touch! There are lots of pools which are incredibly well kept and cool. We could not recommend this hotel more!

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Shanice from United Kingdom – 11 June 2025 (9/10)

It was beautiful, from the view to the facilities. The staff were the most friendly hotel staff I’ve ever come across, any issue we had they resolved swiftly and even gave us complimentary drinks / cake as they knew it was one of our birthday’s! The pools were all clean and the food was amazing. Hands down best buffet breakfast and dinner I’ve ever tried, the buffet dinner changes each night so you won’t get bored of having the same thing and the standard of it is 10/10. Amazing range of desserts at dinner and breakfast – so many fresh juices and smoothies to choose from. Most stunning resort I’ve ever stayed at and would happily visit again.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect

  • Rory from United Kingdom – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

Great location, modern building, clean, big bedrooms

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Christy from Netherlands – 8 June 2025 (8/10)

It was very relaxing and not crowded. Lots of space to relax at the pool or beachfront. Prices were very reasonable.

What could be improved: The room had a smell of sewage which was not very welcoming.

We recently returned from a fantastic stay at Elissa Ella Resort in Rhodes, having previously stayed at its sister property, Helea Family Beach Resort, in 2024. This time, we chose Elissa for its serene, adults-only experience, and it truly delivered. We’re already planning our return next year.

The staff made our experience exceptional, and we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Despina, Georgina, Nicos, Catriona, and many others who went above and beyond every day. Your kindness, professionalism, and warmth are the heart of this resort.

To resort management – your staff are the true asset of Elissa. We kindly urge you to ensure they’re supported, particularly at the pool bar, where at times there were clearly not enough team members to cater to the high number of guests. A little reinforcement there could go a long way in enhancing the overall experience for both guests and staff.

A small suggestion for customer service – when a restaurant such as Kavos needs to close unexpectedly, a simple phone call or message to guests with reservations would help avoid confusion. Many, including ourselves, arrived only to find our bookings cancelled without notice.

To fellow guests, a gentle reminder: treat the staff with respect. When you stay for more than a few days, they become familiar faces — even friends. Be patient, tidy up after yourself, and remember that kindness goes a long way.

Lastly, to past, present, and future guests — please respect the peaceful atmosphere that makes Elissa so special. Loud music from your bluetooth speakers at the pool or beach disrupts the shared space and isn’t appropriate for an adults-only resort focused on relaxation. If you’d like to party loudly, perhaps a livelier destination like Ibiza would be more fitting. Respect others' right to peace and quiet, just as you would hope for yours.

To the entire team at Elissa: thank you once again for your dedication and for making our stay both comfortable and memorable.

What could be improved: Sláinte Mhór

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

Plenty of room in all areas. Staff very good. Room kept spotless by our lovely maid.
    Breakfast good but repetitive.

What could be improved: Nothing reallly. As usual, very tight with milk in the room

The service at this hotel is first class. When we arrived in the evening we weren't happy with our deluxe sea view room as it overlooked one of the many swimming pools and lacked any privacy on the balcony. The Reception staff asked us to come back in the morning to speak to the manager, which we did. She was very accommodating and offered another room with more privacy in a different part of the hotel. The hotel is immaculate and feels rather sophisticated. There were a lots of young couples, possibly honeymooners and it definitely had a younger vibe to our hotel in Lindos (Lindos Mare) but we didn't feel at of place at all. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained and the view is fabulous. We did find places to walk and found a way to walk into Rhodes one afternoon without it all being along the road. There is a bus service and taxis often stopped whilst we were waiting at the bus stop offering a ride for between 7-12 Euros. The buses do get full and we saw people unable to get on so taxi can be a good option and you can negotiate with the driver. The breakfast buffet was fabulous with plenty of choice. We ate out mostly in the evening but the dinner buffet was also good and again had plenty of choice. Staying here felt quite luxurious and the staff work hard to look after their guests in all areas of the hotel.

What could be improved: Were stayed at the start of May and the evenings were quite cold. The outside bar area is lovely but it was too cold for us to sit outside most nights which was a shame as the inside bar area was sparse and unappealing. There were several gas heaters but not enough for the warmth the be felt at all the outside tables.
The beach reserved for the Elissa guests next to the sister hotels beach is very small and not very appealing. I went there for a daily swim in the sea but much preferred to sunbathe and read by one of the pools.
