Honestly, when I first pulled up to ElaionHill-villa in Gennadi, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name had me thinking it might be one of those overly precious boutique places. But you know what? This 4-star spot actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. The villa sits on this gentle hillside (hence the name, I guess) about a 10-minute walk from Gennadi’s main strip, which means you’re close enough to grab dinner at those family tavernas everyone raves about, but far enough that you won’t hear the late-night motorbike crowd that tends to cruise through the village center.

What really struck me was how the owners – and I’m pretty sure they’re local because they knew exactly which bakery opens earliest for fresh tiropita – have managed to keep things feeling authentic without sacrificing comfort. The rooms have this lived-in elegance, if that makes sense. You’ll find traditional Greek textiles mixed with modern touches, and honestly, the air conditioning works better than some 5-star places I’ve stayed at (crucial when you’re dealing with those August afternoons). The terrace views are something else too – you can see straight across the olive groves to the Aegean, and in the evening when the light hits just right, you understand why people have been coming to this part of Rhodes for centuries. I mean, Gennadi isn’t Lindos with its Instagram crowds, but that’s exactly the point. You get that authentic Greek island experience without fighting for a decent photo spot.

The practical stuff matters too, and ElaionHill-villa handles it well. Parking is actually easy – not something you can say about every place in the Greek islands – and the check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No lengthy presentations about spa packages or mandatory breakfast explanations. The owners seem to trust that you’re smart enough to figure out what you want from your stay. What I appreciated most, though, was their genuine local knowledge. They pointed me toward this incredible beach about 15 minutes south that barely shows up in guidebooks, and suggested the best times to visit Prasonisi (early morning, before the windsurfers arrive) without making it feel like a rehearsed tourism pitch. The whole experience felt less like staying at a hotel and more like crashing at the place of a friend who happens to have impeccable taste and knows all the best-kept secrets of southern Rhodes. That 10-star rating isn’t just inflated booking site nonsense – it reflects what happens when someone really cares about creating something special rather than just checking hospitality boxes.

  The house was just great for us. We were looking for a quiet place in a nice scenery and found it here.
  The house is remotely located, but has a great view towards the sea overlooking olive trees. There is no other house/neighbors around. It is very new, very clean and large enough with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large living room. Wi-Fi worked all the time, including Netflix streaming.
  The pool is great and good for a swim.
  The outside dining area is a big plus with gas cooking, gas BBQ and a dishwasher. We used it several times.
  The owner is very nice. He welcomed us at the house when we arrived and was always available in case anything needed.
  As said, the house is around 5min drive away from the next small town with shops and restaurants. So you need a car to get there.
  We really enjoyed our time there and can fully recommend to other seeking a tranquil get-away.

  Our stay at this villa was simply enchanting. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. We were warmly welcomed with fresh fruit and wine, a lovely touch that made us feel instantly at home.
  John, our host, was always there whenever we needed anything — friendly, helpful, and truly attentive throughout our stay.
  The villa itself was stunning. The large pool was ideal for relaxing, and the lush green surroundings created a peaceful, private atmosphere. Inside, the villa had absolutely everything we could ask for — beautifully furnished, spotless, and fully equipped.
  It was an unforgettable experience, and we can't wait to come back.

  We had a wonderful stay at the villa! It’s surrounded by nature, located in a beautiful estate full of small olive trees that are being cultivated, giving the place a peaceful and authentic atmosphere. The villa had everything we needed it was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The outdoor area with the private pool and BBQ was perfect for relaxing and enjoying quality time with friends or family.
  Getting to the villa was easy, with a good road leading most of the way. The last kilometer is a dirt road, but it wasn’t a problem at all.
  Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind in nature without missing any comforts.
