You know what struck me first about Elafusa? It’s tucked away on Agiou Fanouriou street in a way that feels almost accidentally perfect – close enough to Rhodes Old Town that you can hear the distant hum of tavernas in the evening, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos outside your window at 2 AM. I mean, when you’re paying for a luxury apartment, the last thing you want is drunk cruise ship passengers stumbling past your balcony, right?

The place honestly lives up to that 9.5 rating, though I’ll admit I was skeptical at first. Four stars in Greece can be hit or miss, but this feels more like a boutique hotel that just happens to be set up as apartments. The owner – and I’m pretty sure it’s family-run – clearly sweated the details. The marble in the bathroom has this gorgeous veining that catches the morning light, and they’ve got these little touches like locally-made soaps that smell like wild herbs from the hills outside town. The kitchen is actually functional too, not one of those hotel kitchenettes where you can barely boil water. I ended up cooking a few meals with ingredients from the Saturday market near Mandraki Harbor (about a 10-minute walk, and worth it for the olives alone).

What really sets Elafusa apart is how it sits in the neighborhood – you’re walking distance from the medieval walls, but you’re also near where actual Rhodians live and work. There’s this little bakery two blocks down that opens at 6 AM, and the smell of fresh bread drifts through the streets. Parking was surprisingly painless, which anyone who’s driven in Greek island towns will appreciate. The building itself has character without being stuffy – sort of updated traditional architecture that doesn’t try too hard. Air conditioning works properly (trust me, this matters in July), and the Wi-Fi is solid enough for video calls, though honestly, with those views from the upper floor apartments, you might not want to spend much time on your laptop. The check-in was refreshingly personal – they actually seemed to care that we had a good stay rather than just processing us through. I’d definitely come back, especially in shoulder season when Rhodes has that perfect balance of warm weather and fewer crowds.

  Great location in the Old town of Rhodes but still quiet in the evenings. Apartment was well fitted and had everything we needed. Great breakfast was served on our patio and our landlady went out of her way when we left, organising transport of our cases to the pickup point and confirming our taxi arrangements. Only one night stay but very enjoyable

  We stayed here for one night and absolutely loved it!
  The host contacted us in advance, explained how to get there and where to park — it was very helpful.
  The place itself is magical — historic architecture, cozy atmosphere, and everything is decorated with great taste and attention to detail. You truly feel the spirit of Rhodes Old Town while staying here.
  
  We were warmly welcomed, even though we had forgotten to mention our youngest child in the reservation. It wasn’t a problem at all — everything was handled kindly and easily on arrival.
  
  The breakfast deserves a special mention — it was a real delight: a beautifully set table, freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious croissants, coffee, hot chocolate for the kids, eggs, cheese, meats, fruit — everything was tasty and prepared with love.
  
  The room was clean, cozy, and stylish. We were also given great recommendations on what to see and do in the city. On checkout day, we were allowed to leave our luggage and enjoy the city before coming back to pick it up — very convenient!
  
  Highly recommended! We would definitely come back again with pleasure.

  Fabulous tristrional Greek apartment! The location is excellent right in the middle of the old town. We had the windows open most of our stay taking in the ambience from the street below.
