You know what struck me first about Dorothy’s place? It’s that moment when you step onto the balcony and realize the photos actually undersold the view – which honestly never happens anymore. The apartment sits right above Haraki Beach (locals call it Charaki, same thing), and I mean *right* above it. You can literally hear the waves lapping against the pebbles below, especially in the early morning when the fishing boats are heading out.

Dorothy herself is this wonderful Greek woman who’s been running the place for years, and she actually lives nearby – not some absentee owner situation. When I had trouble with the Wi-Fi on my second day, she showed up with fresh tomatoes from her garden and fixed the router. That’s just how it works here. The apartment itself is properly comfortable, not fancy but everything works (the shower has decent pressure, thank god), and the kitchen’s well-equipped if you want to cook with those amazing local ingredients from the village market. The bed’s firm – some people might find it too firm, but I slept like a baby listening to those waves.

Here’s what makes Haraki special though, and why Dorothy’s location is so perfect: it’s still relatively undiscovered compared to Lindos or Rhodes Town. The beach is this gorgeous mix of sand and smooth pebbles, and even in July there’s space to breathe. There’s a handful of tavernas right on the water – I practically lived at Dimitris’s place for lunch, their grilled octopus is ridiculous – and you can walk to everything. No need for a car, though Dorothy does provide parking if you’ve got one. The village has this lazy, timeless feel where old men play backgammon under the tamarisk trees and kids splash around in the shallows until way past their bedtime.

What I really appreciated was how Dorothy balanced being helpful without being intrusive. She left a handwritten list of recommendations (turns out she has excellent taste in restaurants), but also gave me space to discover things myself. The apartment stays cool even during the afternoon heat thanks to thick walls and good cross-ventilation, plus there’s AC if you need it. Honestly, the whole experience felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical rental – which can go either way, but Dorothy gets the balance just right. If you’re looking for that perfect Greek island experience without the crowds and inflated prices of the more famous spots, this is it.

  Excellent view over the bay. Great having the 2 separate bedrooms plus excellent kitchen facilities. Host Maria very welcoming and helpful. Location right in the middle of Haraki with everything you need on the doorstep.

  We had a great stay at this apartment! It was exactly as shown in the pictures – nice, clean, and perfectly located right above the beach. The view was amazing, and parking was easy. The host was incredibly nice, even providing extra sunbeds and an umbrella for us. The only small downside was that the bathroom was a bit small and could use some updates, but it didn’t affect our overall experience. Highly recommended!
  
  What could be improved: the middle room has windows that open to another room, but since we only used it for sleeping and the airflow inside the apartment was great, it wasn't a problem for us.

  What could be improved: The toilet is not working well, the bathroom has a new shower curtain rod(because the dust from the hole was still on the toilet paper box and the floor, and almost got accused of asking us what it was ）and there is no shower curtain when we check in

  Die Lage war super. Die Wohnung war sehr ordentlich, sehr sauber und fast perfekt ausgestattet. Die Vermieterin war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Getränke (sogar Wein) und Obst waren im Kühlschrank.
  
  What could be improved: Nicht gefallen ist übertrieben, eher hätte ich Verbesserungsvorschläge. Das Bad könnte man etwas aufhübschen, die Duschstange festschrauben. Ein Zimmer war recht stickig, aber es kommt wohl demnächst eine Klimaanlage rein.

  Mukava pikkukiviranta, jolla omat aurikopedit. Huoneisto kivan kokoinen, kylpyhuone kalusteet kaipaisivat uusimista. Lähellä monta hyvää ruokaravintolaa.
