You know what struck me first about the Dionysos Hotel? It’s actually positioned perfectly on Iliadon Street in Ixia – and I mean that in the best way possible. Most people think Ixia is just another Rhodes beach town, but honestly, this spot gives you the best of both worlds. You’re literally a three-minute walk from one of the island’s better beaches (the kind where locals actually go), but you’re not stuck in the middle of tourist central where everything closes at 10 PM.

The hotel itself has that solid 4-star feel without trying too hard to impress you. I’ve stayed in places that throw marble everywhere and call it luxury, but Dionysos gets it right with clean lines and those Mediterranean touches that actually make sense – think whitewashed walls that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, and balconies that catch the evening breeze just right. The rooms are honestly bigger than I expected, and here’s something you don’t always get in Greek hotels: the air conditioning actually works properly. I mean, really works, not just blows around warm air and makes noise. The bathroom situation is solid too – good water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled around the Greek islands will tell you is never a given.

What really sold me on this place though was the little things. The staff actually remembers your name after day two (rare these days), and they’ll point you toward the family-run taverna about ten minutes down the coast instead of the overpriced tourist traps near the main strip. Speaking of location – you’re close enough to Rhodes Town that a quick bus ride gets you to the medieval quarter whenever you want that postcard experience, but far enough out that you can hear the waves at night instead of scooters revving until 2 AM. The pool area gets great afternoon sun if that’s your thing, and there’s this little corner spot where you can actually read a book without kids cannon-balling three feet away. Parking’s not an issue either, which saves you the headache of circling around looking for a spot if you’ve rented a car to explore the island. With an 8.3 rating, it’s clearly doing something right – and after staying there, I get why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t oversell itself but delivers exactly what you need for a proper Greek island break.

  Staff was polite and helpful. Hotel is clean and grounds are well maintained.
  What sets this hotel apart from other hotels is the greenery, garden has lots of mature trees. Also, hotel is beautifully decorated with antique furniture and artworks.
  I can highly recommend restaurant across the pool. We ended up eating there several nights. Food was delicious and all 3 waiters were fantastic.
  Pros:

  +shop at the entrance to hotel that sells pretty much anything you need

  +pool bar, snack bar, ice-cream stand and restaurant across the pool

  What could be improved: -Not enough sun beds for everyone
  -no iron in the room. If your clothes need to be ironed, it can only be done at the hotel reception for additional cost.
  -other restaurant (in hotel’s building) was disappointing. We wanted to eat in the garden, but were told that it is reserved for travel agents and people wearing long trousers (my companion wore smart shorts as it was +30 degrees). Even though we were dressed nicely for the evening, we were not allowed to eat in garden. Made us feel a bit like peasants.

  The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The cleaning crew was also on point, changing towels every day. There’s also a grocery shop connected to the hotel, which was very handy for grabbing a few bits.
  
  What could be improved: While the hotel is not bad, considering the price I paid and the reviews I read, I expected much more. The breakfast was very disappointing — I only managed to eat there once. I had to go out for food every day because the breakfast was so poor, with very low quality and little variety. Another negative point is that the room felt a bit dated. The strange shower curtain made the experience quite uncomfortable, as there was barely enough space to move around without it touching you.

  What could be improved: We had a coupon for a welcome drink,we had the drinks and then I told the waiter to use the coupons but she said we have to tell that before we order the drinks so we paid for the welcome drinks.

  Excellent staff, professional and friendly
  Clean rooms daily, pool area clean. Great choice of breakfast. Restaurant onsite with good menus. Close to the beach, bus stop and shops.

  Surpassed my expectations. The pool area is beautiful and the bar, restaurants and food kiosks are great, great value for money too
  There is a concrete football pitch and tennis court, ping ping table, pool table, air hockey and a mini golf course (which needs a but of tlc but does the job) apart from a couple of euros for the pool / air hockey it’s all free
  The gardens are lovely, we didn’t use the playground as my kids are a bit old for that.
  There’s a well stocked mini mart at the property entrance, also reasonably priced.
  Everywhere was spotless and the staff couldn’t be more helpful
  
  What could be improved: The only negative I have is that the rooms aren’t that sound proof from the corridor or outside which wasn’t a massive issue but if you’re a light sleeper it might cause a problem.
  The other thing to note is that there really isn’t a lot at all in ixia itself, a row of a few restaurants and a couple of shops in front of the beach. This is no reflection on the hotel, in fact the hotel is so fab you can spend your days not leaving it

  The place was kept impeccably clean and all the staff were really friendly.
  
  We had planned on a mix of pool days and exploring. For our away days, car rental was easily arranged through the hotel with Christina from Access International car hire who came to the hotel to arrange everything and even dropped us off at the airport on our final day for no extra charge.
  
  Breakfast seating was efficiently managed and the traditional Greek offerings were very tasty.
  
  Shower room availability for when you have checked out but have a late flight and need a final hose down before leaving.
  
  Poolside souvlaki & pitta bar.
  
  What could be improved: Breakfast offered British style dishes but in my opinion, missed the mark a little. Personally not an issue as I much prefer local dishes when travellng but I tend to make a point of checking these things out of interest.
