Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Ippodamou street looking for Colours – Old Town – Studios. I mean, Rhodes Old Town can be pretty hit or miss with accommodations, and sometimes these converted buildings feel cramped or awkwardly laid out. But you know what? This place actually gets it right.

The studios here have this relaxed, lived-in feeling that’s hard to find in a lot of tourist spots. The space feels thoughtfully designed – not like someone just threw some furniture into a medieval building and called it a day. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, which is honestly surprising since you’re right in the thick of things. During the day you’ll hear the usual Old Town sounds – tour groups wandering past, the occasional motorbike (yes, they somehow navigate these narrow streets), but once evening settles in, it’s actually pretty peaceful. The stone walls definitely help with that.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without being right on top of the main drag where it gets absolutely bonkers with cruise ship crowds. Ippodamou is one of those streets that feels residential but connects you easily to everything – you can walk to Sokratous Street in maybe three minutes if you want the souvenir shops and tavernas, or head toward the Palace of the Grand Master without dealing with the chaos near the main entrance. I found myself coming back through Plateia Argyrokastrou pretty regularly, and there’s this little bakery on the way that does incredible bougatsa in the mornings (trust me on this one).

The whole setup feels more like staying in someone’s carefully renovated family place rather than a generic hotel room. The 9.6 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s those small details that add up. The shower actually has decent water pressure, which anyone who’s stayed in Old Town knows isn’t a given. Check-in was straightforward, no drama with keys or confusing instructions. And honestly, the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood, not just the standard tourist script.

One thing I really appreciated – and this might sound minor but it matters – is that the place doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to be “authentically Greek” with a bunch of forced Mediterranean décor. It just feels comfortable and well-maintained. The kitchenette setup is practical too, which comes in handy since eating out for every meal in Rhodes Town can get pricey, and sometimes you just want to grab some local cheese and bread from the market and have a quiet evening in.

If you’re planning to visit during peak season (July-August), book early because places like this – the ones that actually work well – fill up fast. Spring and fall are honestly better anyway; you’ll have the streets more to yourself, and the weather’s still perfect for wandering around those ancient walls and discovering little corners of the Old Town that most people miss.

  Spacious rooms, clean, all utilities working, extra helpful things provided like blister plasters, dry shampoo, anti bac, bug repellent. It was a very authentic Greek apartment which is exactly what we wanted. Furthermore, the street it was down was the prettiest street we’d seen with lots of plants and flowers which gave it a nice feel. Everything was in walking distance, with a small grocery shop right outside which was helpful. Also sevy who owns the apartment was always in contact and was quick to reply to any questions.

  The apartment was spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped. We loved eating on the rooftop patio. The little shop on the nearby corner was very handy.
  
  What could be improved: Wifi was terrible. Google maps led us astray so we took a long time to reach the apartment from the gate to the Old City. It would be good if someone could meet guests at the gate, so seniors like ourselves do not have to walk a long way with heavy bags.

  The location was fantastic!
  The owner was wonderful to deal with, and did everything in her power to make sure we had all that we needed for a pleasant stay. I would highly recommend this property to a friend.
  Staying in the Old Town area was wonderful. Close to all the shops and restaurants, while being able to sleep on a quiet street.

  It had such a great personality/ atmosphere and decore, we felt like we were in a real traditional Greek home with a modern twist, it was beautiful and the location is perfect! Very much felt like we were in our Mamma Mia era 🫶🏻🇬🇷 It also had everything you needed to kitchen stuff and toiletries, we even had a basket of goodies, fresh fruit and water left for us! Sevy was amazing and she set up a birthday surprise for my partner and she was the best host in all of Rhodes! We 100% recommend you stay here 🙂 P.S the shower is the best around, we felt like we were in Ancient Greece it was so aesthetically pleasing 😀

  Beautiful stay in a lovely historical building. Extra attenion to detail was most appreciated. The little things count. I loved the shower. Unique use of space. Washer was also very handy. Very clean and comfortable. The location was top notch. There were always people taking photos of the cute little street in was on. Would recommend at Colors Old Town Studios.

  Located in a charming part of Rhodes Old Town, in a wonderful old building the apartment is spacious, fully renovated, and tastefully decorated.The bed is very comfortable and the shower was fabulous.
  The apartment was spotless and the owner has thought of everything, small touches like fresh fruit and coffee are provided.
  The sunny terrace is an added bonus. This really is a ‘special’ property.

  This apartment was the most impressive that I have ever stayed at! It is a lovely historical apartment, very well renovated, extremely comfortable bed, the most amazing shower, a quiet location, and a very attentive host.
  The kitchen had everything you could want, from several pots and pans, cutlery, two kinds of coffee makers, lots of dishes and more. The host provided a variety of fruits, snacks, beverages, various spices, coffee etc
  It is located in a beautiful, quiet laneway in Old Town, with a small and efficient market just steps away. The host provided excellent pickup and drop off arrangements, as well as much appreciated recommendations for local sites and future travels.
  I stayed for more than two weeks, and will definitely come again!
