You know what struck me first about Chrysanthi’s Stone House? The name actually makes sense – it’s not just some marketing gimmick. The place really is built from these gorgeous local stones that make it feel like it’s been part of the Rhodes landscape forever, even though it’s clearly well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. It sits right on that provincial road between Afantou and Psinthos, which honestly sounds like the middle of nowhere when you’re booking online, but actually puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the action but far enough away to hear crickets at night instead of mopeds.

The whole property has this authentic Greek island vibe without feeling like someone’s trying too hard to create an “experience.” I mean, sure, it’s got four stars and the 8.8 rating tells you it’s doing something right, but what really gets you is the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The stone walls keep things naturally cool during those brutal afternoon hours – and trust me, you’ll appreciate that in July when the sun is absolutely relentless. The rooms have character without being rustic to the point of inconvenience, if you know what I mean. There’s something about the way the light filters through in the morning that makes you want to actually wake up early, which is saying something for me.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute drive from Afantou Beach, which is one of those spots that’s popular with locals but doesn’t get completely overrun with tour groups. The road itself is pretty quiet most of the time – you might hear some traffic during the day, but nothing that keeps you up at night. What I really loved is that you’re positioned perfectly for exploring the inland villages that most tourists skip entirely. Psinthos has this little taverna that serves the best lamb I had on the entire island, and honestly, I probably never would have found it if I’d stayed in Rhodes Town. The owners clearly know the area well and they’re genuinely helpful about pointing you toward the good stuff – not just the obvious tourist spots, but places where you can get a real feel for how people actually live here. Parking is straightforward, which might sound boring but you’ll be grateful when you’re not circling around narrow medieval streets trying to find a spot for your rental car. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day just because you’re comfortable and you realize you don’t need to be rushing around checking things off a list.

  The house is ideal for a large family, it has everything you can think of and is comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: The 7th person was a child and was 9 years old and 70 euros was too much, it could have been at least 50%. I found someone else's underwear under the bed in a bedroom. Cleanliness should be taken into consideration. The only toilet in the house, which is suitable for crowded places, is a problem.

  Die Lage ist zwar etwas abseits vom Strand, dafür sehr ruhig gelegen und kurze Wege zum Einkaufen und Essen gehen. Das Haus ist in den Wohnräumen komplett klimatisiert. Desweitern wurden wir sehr nett begrüßt und bekamen sämtliche Tipps zum Einkaufen und Verpflegung. Parkmöglichkeiten für ein Mietwagen sind auch sehr komfortabel und befindet sich fast vor der Haustür. Handtücher, Duschtücher sowie Bettwäsche sind mehr als ausreichend vorhanden. Terrassen sind ebenfalls ausreichend vorhanden, 3 an der Zahl, sodass man immer die Möglichkeit hat sich entweder in die Sonne zu setzen oder eben auch genügend schattige Sitzmöglichkeiten vorfindet.
  
  What could be improved: Eigentlich gibt es nicht so richtig viel zu meckern. Einzig für die jenigen die Probleme mit einem zu harten Bett haben könnte es unangenehm werden. Uns hat es allerdings nicht gestört. Was noch verbessert werden könnte ist die Anzahl des Bestecks, für zwei Personen ausreichend, für vier wird es schon eng, da nur drei Messer vorhanden sind. Das war schon alles an Kritikpunkten.

  Tolles Haus im griech. Stil. Kontakt mit der Vermieterin funktionierte super. Haus war klimatisiert. Der Pool war klein aber fein.
  
  What could be improved: In der Küche zeigten sich langsam Abnutzungserscheinungen, die man nach und nach beheben sollte.

  Lage war genial. Überblick über die Bucht und die Stadt. Sehr ruhig gelegen. Das Haus ist wie beschrieben und liebevoll eingerichtet. Hier und da könnte man etwas verbessern / rennovieren, aber die Vermieterin war sofort aktiv, sobald was nicht ging, und antwortete schnell. Für Leute, die nicht weit zu Fuß in die Stadt wollen, ist das Haus eher ungelegen. Wir haben das Haus bewusst gewählt, da alle unsere Optionen erfüllt wurden. Außerdem hatten wir ein Mietfahrzeug.
  Leute, die keine Hunde oder Katzen mögen oder gar ängstlich sind, werden hier auch keine Ruhe finden. Das gilt jedoch für die gesamte Insel. 🙂 Uns hat es nicht gestört und die Tiere gehören offensichtlich den dort wohnenden Personen.
  Kontakt zur Besitzerin ging per Übersetzer APP auf Griechisch oder Englisch ganz gut.
  
  What could be improved: Am Pool ging die Farbe ab (wasserlösliche Farbe ?), was zu Farbanhaftungen an Körper und Kleidung führte. Da könnte man in der Wintersaison eine andere Farbe wählen. 🙂
  Jammern auf hohem Niveau: Eine altmodische Filter-Kaffeemaschine oder eine kleine Nespressomaschine wären toll.

  What could be improved: Es war alles schmutzig, es hat überall geklebt vor Schmutz, die Betten waren vom Vorgänger noch so, wie die es verlassen haben.
  Wir haben den Besitzer mehrfach kontaktiert, er zeigte kein Interesse, etwas zu ändern.
  Auf der Terasse wimmelte es vor Katzen und Hunde. Man konnte sich nicht mal auf die Terasse setzen.
  Der Pool (wenn man das als Pool bezeichnen kann) war ohne leider, ein rauskommen ohne Leiter ist nur für Spitzensportler möglich.
  Wir sind am 2. Tag in ein Hotel. Hatten dies an Booking.com gemeldet, leider kam keine Reaktion.
  Sehr schade für solch eine schön geschnittene Wohnung.
