You know what caught me off guard about Casa Poli Suites? It’s tucked right where Averof meets Papagou, which honestly puts you in this sweet spot that most tourists never discover. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the medieval walls of the Old Town, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of those narrow cobblestone streets where delivery trucks somehow squeeze through at 7 AM. The building itself has this understated elegance – it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but there’s clearly thought put into the details. The lobby actually smells like jasmine (there’s a small courtyard you glimpse through glass doors), and the marble floors have this subtle warmth that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to genuinely know Rhodes Town, not just the tourist highlights. The guy at reception – I think his name was Dimitris – casually mentioned that Thursday mornings are perfect for hitting the nearby Nea Agora market because “the fishermen bring in the good stuff early.” He was right, by the way. The suites themselves are spacious in that rare Greek island way where you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around. The kitchenette is actually functional (I made coffee there every morning), and the balconies – well, depending on which room you get, you might catch glimpses of the harbor between the neighboring buildings. It’s not a postcard view, but there’s something honest about it. The air conditioning works without sounding like a helicopter, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.

The neighborhood comes alive around sunset when locals start their evening walks along Averof – you’ll hear this gentle hum of Greek conversation and the occasional motorcycle puttering by. There’s a small taverna called Mavrikos just two blocks down that serves the best lamb I had on the entire island, and honestly, I probably never would have found it if I’d been staying in the tourist quarter. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s solidly good without being flashy, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi gets a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s online, but that almost forced me to actually enjoy my vacation instead of checking emails constantly. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like staying in a well-appointed apartment than a hotel room, and you appreciate being close enough to walk everywhere but far enough to actually sleep peacefully, Casa Poli Suites gets it right.

  The location is great. Close to many restaurants, close to the old town. You can get everywhere without any problems. The apartment is located opposite the bus station, which is a plus if you are planning a trip to other places/cities on the island. The apartment is extremely clean and definitely worth the money.
  
  What could be improved: The noise that there is – in my opinion the problem is the insulation.
  Two beds were joined as one big one but they were not adjusted properly so one bed was wobbling. There are quite steep stairs, which would be a problem for older people or children.

  Been there only for one night. Check in and check out were without any trouble. The room was nice, I really liked the interior and also the balcony. It's quite close to the harbor on the one side and the old city on the other, that was great as I only had so little time there.

  What could be improved: No staff for checkin. When made reservation checkin was shown as 14:00. We arrived at 14:00 and found locked door. I emailed the hotel then asking for immediate check in. We tried to call number on website and said number not in service. We asked staff at adjacent store who called a friend who works for the hotel. The codes to get in the doors were shared with her to give to us. Later I realized the hotel had emailed me codes by 14:25 or so. Recommendation: if advertise check in 14:00 or later, send codes for access by 14:00.

  Clean, spacious room and bathroom.
  
  What could be improved: Stairs with heavy luggage was difficult. And no double glazing on windows coupled with noise outside meant absolutely no sleep at all.

  The location is very good. It is located right in the middle of the old centre and shopping area. The rooms are very spacious. The staff was very helpful.
  
  What could be improved: The cooling of the air conditioning was a bit insufficient. But it was not a big problem. Apart from that, if you are disturbed by the noise, the road noise comes from the rooms facing the street.
