Hotel Description

So I stumbled across Casa Della Vita Loft while wandering through the maze of cobblestone streets in Rhodes Old Town, and honestly? It’s one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some kind of local code. The place sits right on Platonos Street – and if you know anything about the Old Town, you’ll appreciate that this puts you smack in the heart of the medieval quarter without being on one of those tourist-clogged main drags where you can’t hear yourself think.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend this loft-style vibe with the ancient stone walls and archways. I mean, you’re literally sleeping inside UNESCO World Heritage walls that have been standing since the 14th century, but the space feels surprisingly modern and airy – not like some cramped medieval dungeon. The rooms have these exposed stone features that you can’t fake, and honestly, the contrast with contemporary furnishings works way better than it should. You know what I loved? The way morning light filters through the old windows and hits those stone surfaces – it’s the kind of thing that makes you actually want to wake up early (and trust me, that’s saying something). The noise level is pretty reasonable too, especially considering you’re in the thick of things. Sure, you’ll hear some late-night chatter from the tavernas nearby, but it’s more charming than disruptive – like having the gentle hum of local life as your soundtrack.

Location-wise, you’re about a three-minute walk from the Palace of the Grand Master, and maybe five minutes to the harbor where all the day trip boats leave for Lindos or Symi. But here’s the insider bit – you’re also just around the corner from some of the best local spots that most tourists miss entirely. There’s this tiny family-run taverna called Mama Sofia’s (well, that’s what everyone calls it) just two streets over that serves the most incredible moussaka I’ve had in Greece, and the owner’s grandmother still makes the baklava every morning. The whole area comes alive differently depending on when you visit – summers are obviously buzzing with energy, but if you can swing a late spring or early fall trip, you get this perfect balance where everything’s open and lively but you’re not fighting crowds just to grab coffee. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that corporate hotel rigmarole, just genuine hospitality from people who clearly care about the place. With an 8.9 rating, Casa Della Vita Loft has earned its reputation the hard way, and after staying there, I can see why people keep coming back. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – just a really solid, atmospheric place to base yourself while you explore one of Europe’s most remarkably preserved medieval cities.

Brill stay beautiful and hosts dad was amazing. Really looked after us.

What could be improved: Shower door in smaller bathroom was not closing properly so water came out whilst showering but other than that nothing.

  • Shreya from United Kingdom – 10 November 2024 (9/10)

The location of the property was perfect to get around old town. All of the shops and restaurants were also walking distance so you could get around quite easily. The property itself is perfect as well for staying with friends. There were two double bed on two floors in an open plan and then one bedroom with an en-suite for more privacy. The stay was super comfortable and the property had everything we needed!

The owner is a really nice and on time. He was very helpful and let us leave our bags at the property until our boat was leaving. The location is amazing. There is a supermarket and a great bakery nearby and although it is right in the heart of action, the property is very quiet and peaceful.

Kind owners who were really helpful! We were picked up personally from the ferry port and they took us to the apartment while showing all local amenities and shops 🙂 Every request was dealt with promptly! We were very happy and had a great experience.

  • Irem from United States – 18 January 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful place! it took a while to heat it up since we got there late December but it worked out! A little heads up on that the old town during December is fully empty, so no stores etc is open. If you are a solo traveler, I’d recommend staying in the new city center. Other than that the house and the host was great. I’m sure it is a perfect place to be during touristic times when the old city is open.

What could be improved: The cleaning could have been more thorough. There was some mold in the bathroom corners and a few stray hairs around the house. It wasn’t a major issue, as I believe the property is cleaned between guests, but some spots might have been overlooked.

  • Mary from United Kingdom – 20 September 2024 (8/10)

The location was great for getting about the Old Town.

  • Nea from Finland – 7 September 2022 (8/10)

Wonderful location! Absolutely in the middle of old town yet very quiet and peaceful. Spotlessly clean! Nice big kitchen to cook and spacious bathroom with bathtub. High ceilings and a gorgeous, atmospheric old town building. Absolutely recommend this lovely unique place!

What could be improved: Ants in the kitchen. There is repellent but you can't really spray it on cooking surfaces. Make sure to clean up everything or you're in for a surprise! 😀 No proper balcony/outdoor space, only a french style one. Just one toilet paper roll for 5 days, no shampoo/conditioner/shower gel, only hand soap. Bathroom water pressure is low as in most old buildings in Greece, shower head must be handheld, doesn't really stay up that well. Hard mattresses but again, all these are very common in Greece.

  • Nicoletta from Cyprus – 16 June 2025 (7/10)

Very spacious, comfortable and well-equipped apartment with a vintage charm, in the heart of the old town. Hundreds of restaurants and shops are accessible on foot in a matter of minutes.
The hosts were very welcoming, pleasant and assisting.

What could be improved: Make sure you are aware of the fact that the apartment is located inside the old town, meaning it is not accessible by car.
Some things like the showers or the windows could have been maintained in a better condition, overall stay was satisfying.
