So I stumbled across Casa de Mikel 2 on Papagou Street, and honestly? It’s one of those places that gets Rhodes Town exactly right. You know how some hotels try too hard to be fancy, while others just phone it in? This one actually finds that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special without all the pretentious nonsense.

The location is what really sold me on it – Papagou Street puts you right in the thick of things without being on one of those tourist-packed main drags where you can’t sleep past sunrise. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Medieval City walls, which means you can duck into the Old Town for dinner and stumble back without hunting for taxis or dealing with the bus schedule. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being just off the main tourist circuit means you get to see actual Rhodes life happening around you. There’s this little bakery two streets over that opens at 6 AM, and the smell of fresh bread drifting through the windows is honestly better than any alarm clock.

What I really appreciated about this place – and this might sound weird – is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean and comfortable (actually comfortable, not hotel-brochure comfortable), the staff knows their stuff about the island, and everything just works the way it should. The building itself has character without feeling like it’s falling apart, if that makes sense. You’ll notice little touches that show someone actually cares about the place, like decent water pressure in the shower and curtains that actually block out light when you want to sleep in. I mean, these things shouldn’t be remarkable, but anyone who’s done their share of traveling knows they often are. The 8.5 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be a 10, but it nails everything it sets out to do.

Here’s something practical: if you’re planning to explore the island by car, parking around there is actually manageable, unlike some parts of Rhodes Town where you’ll circle for an hour looking for a spot. And if you’re more of a walking person, you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the medieval Old Town and the more modern harbor area without feeling like you’re constantly trekking across the city. The whole setup just works, you know? It’s the kind of place where you spend less time thinking about your hotel and more time enjoying Rhodes, which – let’s be honest – is exactly what you want.

  What could be improved: Only one key for the apartment.

  Great facilities and comfortable. Good proximity to main attractions. Good comms about arrival.
  
  What could be improved: The windows offer no noise insulation at all from the street. The main problems we're cars frequently driving past blasting their music until really qlly late at night and building work kicking off very early in the morning. This is the only aspect that brings the score down for this place.

  We arrived by ferry (Kolona Port) and it took us only a 15-minute walk to get to the apartment, which is in an excellent location in new town but very close to old town. We were two couples and there were two bedrooms plus a living/dining room with a kitchenette. The a/c worked very well. The kitchenette had everything needed to prepare breakfast. A 10-minute walk from Old Town and with lots of restaurants and a couple of mini-markets in the neighbourhood. There was a bus-station very close (we didn't use it) and also a couple of rent-a-cars.
  
  What could be improved: The locks in both bedroom doors need to be fixed. Although the wifi worked well, when we had 4 devices running it became a bit slow (not a major problem).

  Spacious, nicely renovated and very well equipped apartment. Only a few steps from the old town, in a nice area. It is the only apartment in the building. Easy self check in.
  
  What could be improved: The road in front is really noisy during the day, in the night it is totally fine, you can sleep well.

  It was very well situated with all amenities on the doorstep and very close to Rhodes old town.
  The property was modern with very comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom.

  What could be improved: that i paid for a 2 bedroom apartment and for some mysterious reason the second bedroom was locked. like what the actual f… . Also there is virtually no soundproofing, so you WILL keep waking up during night by ALL the passing buses, cars, motocycles, and generally noise.

  2. the place was shown on the map was wrong on the Map at booking and the landlord did not warn me about it. We could not find the address and called him. We had to walk back all the way. It yok us more than 40 minutes to get to the right place.This was not a pleasant first impression. 3. 3.The sheet covering the blanket made me feel uncomfortable. There were no Slippers in the place. You need them at least after shower. When I asked the owner, he Said sorry and did not try to provide it.
  4. There could be a few varieties of tea.
