Hotel Description
So I stumbled across Casa Blue during one of those late-night booking sessions where you’re scrolling endlessly through options, and honestly? Best accidental find ever. This place sits right in Gennadi – which, if you don’t know the area, is this perfectly sleepy village on Rhodes’ southern coast that somehow dodged the tourist circus that swallowed up places like Faliraki.
The thing about Casa Blue is that it gets the balance just right. You know how some hotels try so hard to be boutique that they forget about comfort? Not here. The owners clearly put thought into the details that actually matter – like having proper water pressure (seriously underrated until you don’t have it), blackout curtains that actually block light, and air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train. The rooms have this clean, modern Greek aesthetic without feeling sterile, and I mean, with a 9.7 rating, they’re obviously doing something right. What really sold me though was stepping onto the terrace in the morning – you get this unobstructed view of the Aegean that changes color throughout the day, from deep blue to this incredible turquoise when the sun hits it just right.
Gennadi itself is what made me want to extend my stay. It’s one of those places where you can still walk down to the beach without fighting for a spot or paying resort prices for a coffee. The main beach stretches for kilometers – proper long walks territory if that’s your thing – and it’s mostly locals and the occasional savvy traveler who figured out this corner of Rhodes exists. There’s this family-run taverna about a five-minute walk from Casa Blue where the owner, Yannis, makes this lamb dish that I’m still thinking about months later. The village has that authentic rhythm you don’t find in the touristy spots; you’ll hear roosters in the morning (fair warning if you’re a light sleeper), see old men playing backgammon in the kafeneio, and actually experience that slow Greek island pace everyone talks about but rarely finds anymore. Casa Blue fits perfectly into this scene – it’s upscale enough that you feel pampered, but it doesn’t stick out like some flashy resort that disrupts the whole vibe. If you’re looking for nightlife and shopping, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to actually unwind and get a taste of what Greek island life feels like when it’s not performing for tourists, Casa Blue in Gennadi is pretty much perfect.

The best place to stay! The house is amazing, has 3 separate super cozy and stylish rooms with very big separate bathrooms, one of the rooms has also included in it the kitchen, living room and additional double bed. There is super cool swimming pool, rooftop terrace with modern bbq, even a bar! Even the lighting is perfect, absolutely top! And the host is the best, super friendly and helpful, so that you can enjoy worry-free holiday, evharisto!
The village Gennadi is the most lively in the area, has a few great taverns, bars with live music, shops, and sometimes even the local fest, so as a base for that part of the island is great. We were kitesurfing in Prasonisi, house is super as a surf house for that spot!
Note- better rent small cars, because here as well as in other greek villages the streets are tiny and require skills for driving and parking 😉
Evharisto again and see you next time!David from France – 31 July 2024 (10/10)
Location, equipment, peaceful, swimming pool, roof top for diner. Everything was perfect.
What could be improved: NothingHagay from Israel – 10 April 2023 (9/10)

Great house, lovely place to spend time by the pool
Nice kitchen combined with sleeping places
Cool rooms even though a bit dark
What could be improved: Warm water available only sometimes due to issue with the heater. Got solved after 2 days
Bathroom doors squeak badly.
Small red ants everywhere if a crumb stays on the floor for a bit longer
Room natural lighting is low if you want privacy, but that's how the house was builtBryan from United Kingdom – 29 July 2022 (10/10)
Everything it was a great find had everything you needed
What could be improved: My one gripe would be the slope leading upto pool area wet or dry it was slippery needs to have a anti slip method on itTrevor from United Kingdom – 12 September 2023 (8/10)
This property is a very attractive walled compound with rooms accessed through the open, partially shaded courtyard. There is an upper deck with a BBQ and views across local allotments, olive groves and to the hills beyond. You can just about see the sea between neighbouring houses. The frequent breeze up top can make this a good place to sit with a drink on very hot days.
It is in a perfect location if, like us, you are looking for peace, in a community setting (local people around), with very easy access to Gennadi village restaurants, bars and shops (five minutes away). The beach is ten minutes further away, across a main road – it is pebbly but not busy compared to some other places, so also peaceful. There is a pharmacy on the main road. A bus stop by the pharmacy provides low cost frequent services to other nearby villages and all the way to Rhodes (tickets are always single and cash is essential). There is a decent greengrocer, a lovely bakery that will double your body weight in a week, and a reasonable supermarket.
At the property, everything was very clean, facilities were good, the aircon was effective in all the rooms. Rooms can be locked individually. The laundry room / poolside bathroom was a useful feature. The kitchen / living room has two double bed alcoves built into the rear of the space, which could be handy if you had teenagers who were happy to crash in the early hours in the alcoves, leaving you to get a good night's sleep in the other rooms. But these beds offer little privacy for couples, so not ideal for all.
Lambrini, the host, contacted us before arrival with lots of useful information and helped arrange a taxi to the door (due to our late flight arrival). She speaks excellent English.
Basics including wine, milk, instant coffee and sandwich provisions were in the kitchen.
We would be very happy to stay here again. It is easy to find on Google Maps and w3w is ///unstable.leashed.raindrops
What could be improved: A few improvements would increase the score from 8 to 9, including:
– Ensuring the ramp to the poolside is more grippy and less slippy.
– A cleaner pool – there was some plant material and sediment in it which we wafted into the filtering system, and it would benefit from a really good scrub all round. But we were very happy to use it for hours every day and, in fairness, there is a challenge with ash and dust following the recent fires, making cleaning the pool more challenging without disturbing the users (the pool guy was great).
– Some extra things in the kitchen, including a new, large chopping board, a large jug for cocktails and an ice cube tray.
– Shading options for the swing seat on the top deck and for the pool (e.g. a sun sail). We love the heat but burn easily in the sun, so more shade would have been helpful in these spots.
But these are minor points. We loved our stay here.Graham from United Kingdom – 27 October 2022 (8/10)
Lovely traditional home in the heart of the village. Comfortable well equipped rooms. Plenty of outdoor space and delightful pool.
What could be improved: Basic instructions were lacking eg how to turn lights on, although resolved fairly quickly. The listing says there’s a washing machine- there isn’t.Alek from Poland – 15 October 2022 (8/10)
Location in the center of the town but quiet neighborhood, sometimes you can hear the church bells. Rooms not too big but everything fits. A small swimming pool for a refreshment.
A large courtyard inside the house.
What could be improved: Access by car through narrow streets, it is better to have a smaller car. You have to watch out for ants. You can't leave anything open, they even get to the bread.Luca from Italy – 9 September 2024 (10/10)
Posizione ottima per escursioni, personale gentilissimo e disponibile.
seGiampaolo from Italy – 27 July 2024 (10/10)
Location meravigliosa, proprio bella…e la piscina il valore aggiunto.
What could be improved: Per raggiungere la casa bisogna stare attenti alle stradine molto strette ..
